First 5 – Week of February 25, 2019

All Staff Meeting: Join us on Sunday, March 10 from 5:15 – 6:30 PM for our Quarterly ALL Staff Meeting. This will be a time for Kroc Center updates and fellowship with the rest of the Kroc Krew. This meeting will be casual with dinner provided and some fun MARIO trivia. In honor of National Mario Day feel free to dress in your favorite Super Mario gear. This is a mandatory meeting and staff will get paid.

EVERYONE please RSVP with your supervisor no later than Wednesday, March 6.

Spin Bikes for Sale: In early March, the Kroc Center will be receiving our new spin bikes, and we are making our 21 old bikes available for staff for a $50 donation to The Salvation Army’s World Services.

If you are interested, give $50 (cash or check made out to The Salvation Army World Services) to Brent Wilcoxson to reserve your bike.  All bikes must be picked up no later than one week following the arrival of the new spin bikes (sometime the week of March 4 – 8). Bikes are first come, first served, one per person.

If you have any questions, please speak with Bram Roberts.

GRPS Swim Volunteers: The Aquatics department is in need of volunteers to help with the Grand Rapids Public Schools swim lessons that begin the week of March 4; especially monitors for locker rooms as kids get in & out of the pool. Please see Jessica Viau to sign up for times — be aware that an additional volunteer screening is required by GRPS.

AYSO Spring Season Ahead!: AYSO Region 1634, the youth soccer league that plays at the Kroc Center, is gearing up for a new season starting in April. Spring is the biggest season for our league, so we are in need of extra volunteers to be coaches (or assistants), referees, and more. Please see Katie Deatherage, Bram Roberts, or Jon Shaner for more information. If you know kids who may be interested in playing, registration ends on March 10 — go to ayso1634.org to sign up.

Membership Rate Change Reminder: Members with single adult, two-adult, and youth-plus memberships are being notified that their monthly payment will increase on March 20. The increase is $2 per adult, per month. All new members have already started paying the new rate as part of their initial registration. Anyone with questions can contact the Membership Department.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from the past week:

  • “Wynter always nicely reminds birthday parties when their time is ending so the room can be cleared.”
  • When the pool was short three staff members, Megan and Riley did a great job of adjusting to accommodate modified open swim as a Plan B.
  • Patrick, our newest Welcome Desk team member, provided a guest with great care as he learned how to sell a private swim lesson.
  • The Aquatics team wants to thank Eddie Acker for replacing ALL the drainage grates on the pool deck without complaint — it was a huge job!
