First 5 – Week of July 26, 2021

UPCOMING MAINTENANCE CLOSURES: As part of our never-ending work to keep the Kroc Center clean, safe, and useful for our members, the Aquatics Center will be closed for maintenance August 23 through September 6. We’ll be performing repairs and upgrades on the pool liner and filtration systems, resurfacing the waterslide, and more. The locker room areas will also be closed at times during this period as we apply new floor coatings. Plus, we’ll be installing some new cardio equipment on the fitness floor!

JOB OPENINGS: As we look forward to being able to offer more programs and services in the next few months, we are ramping up hiring for various positions around the Kroc Center. You can always check out the iCIMS web portal to see a list of available jobs throughout the Central Territory of The Salvation Army. Currently available positions include: Fitness Attendant; Group Exercise Instructors; Soccer Instructor; Operations Administrative Assistant; Senior Programming Assistant.

NEXT BACKYARD BBQ: All Kroc Krew members are invited to mark your calendars for another cookout on Thursday, August 12 from 12-1PM.

STORYTIME IN THE PARK: The Kroc Center is working with the Storytime Grand Rapids organization (that has placed the free book box outside our main entrance) to take over the Storytime in the Park event on Tuesday, August 3 at Garfield Park. Volunteers are needed to do things like read to the kids, help with registration, take coupons at the book tables, distribute cups of water, and hand out Kroc Center materials. With hundreds of people typically attending each week, this is a great opportunity for us to re-establish a community presence after COVID cancelled so many events and gatherings over the past 18 months. Please contact Jon Shaner if you are available to help out – family members are welcome too! Volunteers only need to be 12 years old.

REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE FOCUS: Safety: We strive to provide emotional, mental, physical and spiritual safety for members/staff. The safety of our members, guest and staff is always paramount.
  • SAFETY: Bomb threats. In your departments, please review the procedure for handling a bomb threat by either mail or phone.
  • CORE VALUE: We value quality in everything we do. The Kroc Center strives to offer a broad spectrum of impactful, innovative programs and services.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some recent examples:

  • A family of three that was not registered was able to attend Family swim because at the time, only 56 out of the 75 registered members showed.  Thanks aquatics team!
