First 5 – Week of August 9, 2021

NEW OFFICERS ARRIVE: Later this week, our new Kroc officers will be arriving and settling into their new home in West Michigan. Major Carol and Lieutenant Jack Huffman will be in the office the later part of the week, and their first Sunday at Kroc Church will be next Sunday, August 15. Be sure to say hello and introduce yourself. We also want to thank Majors Keith and Sherrie Welch for helping to support us during the transition period!

FALL 1 PROGRAM REGISTRATION: Registration opens for Fall 1 session roster programs for both members and non-members on Monday, August 9. Some popular programs are coming back including more music lessons, youth ballet classes, and more. As a reminder, our Active Families promotion continues through the end of the year — the Fall 1 and Fall 2 sessions will both feature many youth programs that are FREE for those with family memberships.

UPCOMING MAINTENANCE CLOSURES: As part of our never-ending work to keep the Kroc Center clean, safe, and useful for our members, the Aquatics Center will be closed for maintenance August 23 through September 6. We’ll be performing repairs and upgrades on the pool liner and filtration systems, resurfacing the waterslide, and more. The locker room areas will also be closed during this period as we apply new floor coatings. Plus, we’ll be installing some new cardio equipment on the fitness floor soon!

JOB OPENINGS: As we look forward to being able to offer more programs and services in the next few months, we are ramping up hiring for various positions around the Kroc Center. You can always check out the iCIMS web portal to see a list of available jobs throughout the Central Territory of The Salvation Army. Currently available positions include: Lifeguard,  Group Exercise Instructors; Soccer Instructor; Operations Administrative Assistant; Senior Programming Assistant.

REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE FOCUS: EFFICIENCY – We strive to be attentive, considerate, and responsive to the needs of our guests. I follow established guidelines in order to fulfill my role and meet the needs of our guests.
  • SAFETY: Do you know what to do when a theft is reported? What are some ways we can proactively work to prevent thefts in the Kroc Center? This week, we will talk about how we can respond to members in a way that turns ‘red dots’ into yellow or green ones.
  • CORE VALUE: We value authentic relationships. The Kroc Center pursues personal connections that promote holistic wellness in an environment of security and significance.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some recent examples:

  • The Aquatics team is commended for their flexibility in helping to maximize the number of people able to participate in Family Swim by balancing no-shows with others who did not pre-register or made a mistake in the process. Green dots for all!
  • Chris Reinsma continues to draw more people to Drum Fit, in part by leaving the WPAC doors open and allowing passers-by to enjoy the jammin’ tunes!
