First 5 – Week of September 27, 2021

FALL 2 PROGRAM REGISTRATION: Registration for Fall 2 session programs begins Monday, September 27 and is available until Tuesday, October 26. Check out all the program listings on our website, mobile app, or by picking up a guide at the Welcome Desk. Note that there will be NO programs on Thursday, November 25 (Thanksgiving Day) or Friday, November 26 (“Black Friday”), but programs DO meet on Saturday, November 27.

MONSTER MASH: The time has come to prepare for the return of our annual Monster Mash event, scheduled for Friday, October 29 from 5 to 7 pm. This year, we will be partnering with the Burton Heights Business Association to help recruit vendors to hand out candy and other materials. If you have an organization you would like to invite to participate, please contact Jon Shaner for a sponsorship form. Note: All full-time or administrative staff are expected to work this event unless excused by your supervisor.

COMMUNITY NEEDS STUDY UPDATE: We are receiving good results from the community survey that is part of our needs study from Calvin University’s Center for Social Research. Please be sure to share the links that are on our social media accounts so we can collect even more feedback. We’re about to shift into the second phase of the study, with four neighbor listening sessions October 9-15. These sessions will take place in the Music Room.

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: Did you know that Hispanic Heritage Month continues through October 15? Several local organizations are holding special events that are open to the public, both virtually and in-person. Check out the Grand Rapids Public Library and Grand Valley State University for listings.
