First 5 – Week of August 7, 2023

KROC-STRUCTION: As of Thursday 8/3, we are only waiting on the last supplies to install in the new locker rooms and hope to open them to members on or around the 11th. The lockers themselves will not be installed until September, so even after opening, guests will need to use the lockers in the hallway near the track entrance. Progress continues on the first-floor membership offices as well.

MAINTENANCE WEEK SHUTDOWN: As a reminder, the Kroc Center will be closed to the public for our annual maintenance week September 11-17. Communication was already shared as part of an email to members, but we will start posting reminders around the building over the next couple of weeks. As always, we will need extra help in deep-cleaning the Aquatics Center and other areas of the building, so please be watching for communication from your supervisor about projects in your department and the possibility of picking up hours elsewhere as well!

AYSO FALL REGISTRATION: This is the last week to guarantee a spot in our fall AYSO soccer program! Players will learn about good sportsmanship, make new friends, and develop their soccer skills in this eight-week league. Registration is available online at ayso1634.org.

KROC KREW SUMMER BBQ: Mark your calendar for the final event of the summer on Thursday, August 17 from 12-1pm under the fitness floor balcony. We’ll be sure to save some food for the evening staff as well.

FALL 1 PROGRAM REGISTRATION: Remember, even though the Fall 1 program guides are available online and in print, registration does not open until NEXT Monday, August 14. Please do not sign people up for roster programs prior to this date.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Lifeguard; Child Watch Attendant; Welcome Desk Attendant.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples observed recently:

  • Claire has done a good job of approaching prospective members during tours to introduce herself and welcoming them to the fitness floor.
  • The aquatics team, especially Katie and Ella, handled a member’s medical situation well last Friday, with the help of Albert and several other managers controlling traffic and contributing in other ways.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Lobos Soccer: Saturday, 4-8pm; Outdoor Soccer Fields
  • Fit Kids on the Move: Tuesday/Thursday, 5-6:30pm; Outdoor Fields
  • United Way: Thursday/Friday, 6am-8pm; WPAC

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am (currently in the Music Room); if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • Please pray for our neighborhood, that upcoming events like the Kroc Block Party can help to foster an atmosphere of safety and unity.

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Melissa Roemer: 8/7
  • Alondra Sanchez: 8/10
  • Corissa VanderPloeg: 8/13
