WHAT’S #YOURKROCSTORY? On February 1, we’re rolling out a new contest for both members and employees called #YourKrocStory. All you have to do is record a short video about the impact the Kroc Center has had on your life and/or the community and send it to the Kroc page via Facebook or Instagram message. The best videos will win a portion of $2,024 in gift cards! See GrKrocCenter.org/yourkrocstory for details.
EAT COMMITTEE “SOUP-ER BOWL” CAN DRIVE: The E.A.T. committee is sponsoring a head-to-head competition between Kroc departments to see who can bring in the most non-perishable food items. Everything collected will be donated to The Salvation Army’s Kent County Social Services food pantry. The departments have been divided as follows: Aquatics; Fitness; Membership/Child Watch; Facilities/Fine Arts/Sports & Recreation. We decided to highlight the hard work of all our program/floor staff, so admin staff may donate to the bin of your choice to support your favorite department(s). Bins will be located in the lobby and labeled for each department accordingly. Members are invited to participate too, so encourage them to drop some canned goods in your department’s bin. The contest ends Sunday, February 11. The department that has the most units (ramen doesn’t count) wins a pizza party!
49507 FAMILY WELLNESS FAIR: On Saturday, March 9 from 12-4 PM, the Kroc Center will be partnering with the neighborhood organization Seeds of Promise to put on a new event at the Kroc. We are actively looking for more groups to participate (at no cost) – if you know of anyone who may be interested in joining us to promote community wellness, please send contact information to Jon Shaner.
SAVE THE DATE: The next all-staff meeting will be on Sunday, March 10 at 4:30PM. A light meal will be provided following the meeting. More information about the agenda, etc. will be shared in the coming weeks.
SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP UPDATE: Since last spring, we have been working with Godwin Heights Public Schools to automatically qualify families enrolled in their buildings for our sliding-scale membership rates, since state data shows nearly 90% of the district qualifies based on income. Because that partnership has brought us nearly 50 new family memberships, we have decided to now extend the same offer to Godfrey-Lee Public Schools. Please welcome these new families to the Kroc Center, and contact Lisa Van Dyk or Jon Shaner with any questions about the program.
OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Aquatics Lead; Lifeguard; Youth Ministry and Mission Specialist
Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!
- 44 older adult members were entertained and educated by Alyson Rodriguez as part of her Kroc Discoveries presentation on fine arts last week.
- The increasing numbers of families taking advantage of modified open swim on weekday mornings are thankful for our schedule adjustments.
- Another quick response from our team, including Cori, Paul, Margarita, and Rachel, to a medical emergency last week.
- Jessica and Melissa helped turn an upset member into a ‘greenish-yellow’ dot last week in a sensitive situation.
Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:
- UPrep Enrichment Classes: Tuesday/Thursday, 9–10:15am; Gym, Art Room, Fireside, WPAC
- Fit Kids 360: Wednesday, 5-8 pm; WPAC, Music Room
Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am (currently in the Green Room); if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.
- For Giana G. who prays that she can see her dad soon.
- For Camila who prays that her Aunt gets better.
- For Josh D. who hopes the Lord allows him to stay focused and to have clarity in sobriety.
- For Danielle who prays that we will go to Heaven soon.
- An anonymous member prays for their partner and his legal troubles and prays that he is right for them.
Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:
