First 5 – Week of October 14, 2024

Payroll Week Reminder: Did you submit/approve your timecard?

UPDATE YOUR ADP PROFILE: Please make it a priority to check your ADP account and make sure that your personal and emergency contact information are up to date. You can access this in ADP on the web by clicking the circle with your initials or photo in the upper-right corner, choosing “Profile,” then clicking the “Personal” tab. Please see Melissa Roemer with any questions.

NEW – LITMOS TRAINING PLATFORM: The Salvation Army Central Territory is in the process of launching a new system for employee training and certifications. You will likely receive an email about this from THQ, which may come to your personal email account. DO NOT DELETE THIS EMAIL! You will need it to access the system in the future. While there are no trainings in Litmos for Kroc Krew members yet, we expect it will be used for required safety and other courses in the future. More information will be provided as the system is put into use.

OCTOBER FITNESS PROMOTION: Did you know? Each quarter, Les Mills updates its group exercise classes with new music and moves to keep them fresh for participants. The 100th release of the BODYCOMBAT class just came out, and we’re celebrating during the month of October by “Keeping it 100”! All month long, the fitness team will be offering some special ‘BODYCOMBAT Basics’ classes for people to learn the moves and skills, and weekend bonus classes so more people can take part. And, non-members will be invited to take a BODYCOMBAT class for only $1.00. Please see Margarita Gonzalez for more information.

MONSTER MASH: Our most popular event of the year is slated for Friday, October 25. Monster Mash is when we invite community partners to hand out candy and information to roughly 1,500 guests as they “trunk-or-treat” through the East parking lot. If you know a business or organization who would be interested in participating, please send contact information to Jon Shaner.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: After the success of our first blood drive in partnership with Versiti, we will be hosting another one on Tuesday, October 29 from 3:00-7:30pm in the Music Room. You can make appointments at: https://donate.michigan.versiti.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/162028. Each person who shows up for their appointment will receive two Kroc day passes for friends or family!

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Fitness Attendant, Lifeguard, Personal Trainer, Welcome Desk Lead.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!

    • All our team members who are involved with working through the transition process from SilverSneakers to One Pass for many of our older adults
    • Andre Posey for continuing to engage members through his line dancing class
    • Chris Reinsma for being willing to have our EmpowerU friends in a Drum Fit class and going with the flow
    • Alicia Williams managed a difficult situation with guests who were using the climbing wall without supervision while also attending to other customers at the same time

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am in the Administration Foyer; if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • God we pray that you will continue to watch over and sustain our members, staff, and local community. We ask for your healing hand and never-ending love to keep us all safe and protected as we enjoy this beautiful campus you have so richly blessed us with. In Jesus name. Amen.

NEW! We’re featuring a “Note from the Pastor” and Bible verse in the First Five each week from Captain Jack Huffman and the Kroc Church team. If you ever want to hear more about these topics, join us for Kroc Church Sunday mornings at 10am.

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

When we think about our health, most people automatically think that is means just your physical health. Often people have a narrow view of the whole scope of our health. What we eat and put into our bodies is certainly important and can have a major impact on our overall health. We can easily become overweight, become tired, and even suffer severe physical repercussions from our bad eating habits.

However, our health goes much deeper than what we eat. Yes, it is about what we put into our bodies but it also about what we feed our minds and what we allow our eyes to see and even what we listen to. All these habits can create an unhealthy body mind and soul and lead to spiritual destruction if we are not careful.

Paul reminds the Church of Corinth in 1 Corinthians 6:19 that their bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. That the Holy Spirit who lives in them is a gift from God and that they are not their own. Keeping this in mind we have a larger responsibility than just our physical health. We must take care of the whole body to honor God for the gift of life and take care of the mind, body, and Spirit by what watching what we eat, think, say, and do.
