First 5 – Week of December 23, 2024

Payroll Week reminder: Did you approve/submit your timecard?

HOLIDAY HOURS: We have made a slight change to Kroc facility hours for both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. We will still open at 5:30am on both of those days, but the building will close at 1:00pm to avoid having to bring in afternoon staff. As a reminder, the Kroc is fully closed on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

DECEMBER MEMBERSHIP PROMOTIONS: As is typically the case during the month of December, we have launched our $0 Registration Fee promotion for all new memberships in advance of the New Year’s rush. Additionally, we are selling day pass certificates ‘buy one, get one free’ as gift ideas through December 24. See the membership or marketing teams for more information.

POST-CHRISTMAS PROMOTION: On top of the ongoing $0 registration promo, we will be bringing back our Black Friday special due to popular demand, for the dates of December 26-31 ONLY. During that time, new members can get a single adult or senior membership for all of 2025 for only $25 when paying in full upfront. This deal was extremely popular when we ran it last month, so be sure to tell your friends!

WINTER 1 SCHEDULE UPDATES: There are a number of new and returning classes and activities that will be in the Winter 1 drop-in recreation guide. By request, our drop-in youth futsal will be back and take place 5-7pm Tuesday evenings; also, there are several new Les Mills virtual fitness classes that will be on the schedule. Be sure to check out the rec guide and other updated information coming soon!

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY: As we get into the winter months, here is a reminder of our employee handbook’s policy regarding weather-related cancellations and closings: Building Closures “When there is a need to close the building for any reason, or a need for a delayed start time, employees will be notified by the specified method for each location. Employees who can work remotely will be expected to do so on those days; employees who are unable to work remotely will be paid for their regular time on those days. Check with your supervisor to clarify the expectations for your position. If the office is open and is forced to close early for unusual reasons (e.g. inclement weather, building issues), all employees who reported for work will be paid for the full scheduled shift. If the location is not closed and inclement weather prohibits an employee from reporting to work, the employee must notify their supervisor, and the employee will be required to use available personal, discretionary, or vacation time. If no such time is available, the day will be unpaid.”

Note: No First 5 next week (December 30) due to the holidays.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Lifeguard, Child Watch Attendant, Fitness Attendant.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!

  • Several staff members helped a single dad with advice and resources for doing his daughter’s hair.

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am in the Administration Foyer; if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • Safe travels for all of our Kroc members and staff during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
  • Protection and healing for Ronda Kaechele’s knee surgery.
  • Guidance for families looking for child care, including the Roemers and the Lewises.
  • Praise for the blessing of new reliable transportation for Lily Mattson.

Each week, we feature a “Note from the Pastor” and Bible verse from Captain Jack Huffman and the Kroc Church team. If you ever want to hear more about these topics, join us for Kroc Church Sunday mornings at 10am.

Christ’s Love Alive In Us – 1 John 4:9-16

This week, as we light the Advent candle of love, we are reminded of the incredible truth of Christ’s love. God showed His love by sending His Son, Jesus, to give us life and save us through His sacrifice (1 John 4:9-10). This love is unconditional, steadfast, and alive today, assuring us that nothing can separate us from God’s love (Romans 8:38-39).

Christ’s love transforms us from the inside out. Through the Holy Spirit, His love grows in our hearts and empowers us to reflect His character. As John reminds us, “Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” (1 John 4:11). When His love is alive in us, it shows in the way we serve, forgive, and care for others, allowing God to work through us to bring hope to the world.

This Advent, let’s let His love shine through us. Whether by reaching out to someone in need or sharing His good news, we can testify to the world that Christ’s love is real. If you haven’t experienced His love personally, His arms are open to you today. Let’s embrace and share the joy and peace of Christ’s love alive in us.
