First 5 – Week of April 14, 2025

FIRST FIVE QR CODE: We understand that not all Kroc employees have easy access to their email and may not see the weekly First Five. To remedy this, we are trying something new! Marketing has created little First Five QR code cards that can be scanned anytime with your smartphone to view the current First Five. This QR code will not change from week to week, but the link will! So please post the cards where employees can access them. If your department doesn’t have one yet and would like one, please let marketing know!

SPRING AYSO: It’s that time of year again! Spring AYSO starts today! We are excited to see the outdoor campus busier than usual. If you see someone who looks lost, please help them find where they need to go and remind them that we have the back parking lot which is closer to the soccer fields. If you or members have questions, please reach out to Jessica Viau or Sammie Ryans.

GOOD FRIDAY–ADMIN HOLIDAY: Quick reminder that Friday, April 18th is an Admin holiday.

GRPS SWIM LESSONS – AQUATICS SCHEDULE CHANGE: Starting April 14, the pool, hot tub, and other aquatic facilities will be closing at noon due to Grand Rapids Public School swim lessons. These changes will run through June 7th. The pool will resume its regular schedule at 4 PM each day. To ensure a smooth transition for the students and to minimize congestion, we kindly ask that members who typically visit between 11:00 AM and 11:55 AM use the men’s and women’s locker rooms as much as possible. This will help avoid overcrowding in the family locker room cabanas, which will close at 11:30 AM.

CAMP KROC EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT: Great news! We are offering a 50% discount on summer camp for the children of our staff, bringing the cost down to $97.50 per child per week. If you’d like to take advantage of this opportunity, simply let Alyson Rodriguez know via email or in person, and she will add the discount to your account. Don’t miss out on this chance to give your children an unforgettable summer camp experience at a reduced cost!

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am in the Administration Foyer; if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • Praying for health for all our staff!

Each week, we feature a “Note from the Pastor” and Bible verse from Captain Jack Huffman and the Kroc Church team. If you ever want to hear more about these topics, join us for Kroc Church Sunday mornings at 10am.

Seeing Is Not Always BelievingJohn 12:12-19

It is amazing in today’s world that so many people in society either chose not to see the truth or they stay blinded to it because of their own world views, values, and even their moral compass. When I think about all the evidence that is so present in situations and how people can still deny the truth it perplexes me.

People watch loved ones die every day from smoking yet they themselves continue to smoke. People watch loved ones lose everything they have from addiction or gambling yet they themselves continue to frequent the casinos and continue to remain active in addiction. No matter how clear the evidence is, people refuse to believe the truth that they too can suffer the same consequences and instead continue down the same path of destruction.

This type of mindset is clear in John 12:12-19 as Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Donkey. The very same people that had witnessed him perform miracles, raise Lazarus from the dead just days prior, watched Him teach with authority in the Synagogues and Temples, would be the very same people that did not believe He was the Messiah. The very same people that called Him Lord would be the very same people who would shout crucify Him days later.

It is clear that seeing is not always believing. Just because the evidence is right in front of you does not necessarily mean that you will believe. Today I urge you to take all the evidence of Christ into consideration and come to the realization that He is real, and He is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him. Believe on Him today and allow your life to be changed for eternity.
