First 5 – Week of April 21, 2025

CYCLE-DELIC ZUMBA GLOW PARTY: Dress up in your best 80’s and 90’s fashion and join us for an awesome glow party workout that is part cycle and part Zumba! This event is this Friday, April 25 from 6:00-7:30pm. It is free, but space is limited, so encourage people to sign up in advance!

OPEN POSITIONS: In case you haven’t noticed, we have quite a few open positions available around the Kroc Center! Please take a look at the list below or head over to our website to share specific positions with friends and family you think could make a good fit with us! https://grkroc.org/jobs

GRPS SWIM LESSONS: Thanks to everyone who has been pitching in with GRPS swim lessons in our first week – it was a success despite a few curveballs! There will still be a lot of help needed both in the pool and in supervising kids in locker rooms as we continue these lessons through May; please see James Valentine or Jessica Viau if you have any questions.

GRPS SWIM LESSONS – AQUATICS SCHEDULE CHANGE: Just another reminder that the pool, hot tub, and other aquatic facilities will be closing at noon due to Grand Rapids Public School swim lessons. These changes will run through June 7th. The pool will resume its regular schedule at 4 PM each day. To ensure a smooth transition for the students and to minimize congestion, we kindly ask that members who typically visit between 11:00 AM and 11:55 AM use the men’s and women’s locker rooms as much as possible. This will help avoid overcrowding in the family locker room cabanas, which will close at 11:30 AM.

CAMP KROC EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT: Great news! We are offering a 50% discount on summer camp for the children of our staff, bringing the cost down to $97.50 per child per week. If you’d like to take advantage of this opportunity, simply let Alyson Rodriguez know via email or in person, and she will add the discount to your account. Don’t miss out on this chance to give your children an unforgettable summer camp experience at a reduced cost!

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family!

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am in the Administration Foyer; if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

Each week, we feature a “Note from the Pastor” and Bible verse from Captain Jack Huffman and the Kroc Church team. If you ever want to hear more about these topics, join us for Kroc Church Sunday mornings at 10am.

Out Of The Darkness Into The Marvelous Light
Matthew 28:1-15

On that first Easter dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary approached the tomb only to find the stone rolled away and an angel proclaiming, “He is not here; he has risen” (Matt. 28:1–6). In their fear and wonder, they became the first witnesses to Christ’s triumph over death, a moment that shattered the shadows of sin and fear.

This empty tomb stands as the defining shift from darkness into light—sin’s hold rendered powerless by the risen Savior. Where darkness once reigned, Christ’s radiant victory becomes out living hope, inviting us into new life and intimate fellowship with the Father. No earthly barrier, ritual, or grave could contain the power of His love and grace.

As a congregation called to live in this marvelous light, we are urged to emerge from spiritual darkness: to walk boldly in truth, extend mercy to others, and shine Christ’s hope into every corner of our lives. Today, let the reality of the Resurrection inspire your faith, strengthen your witness, and draw you ever deeper into the light of our living Lord.
