✝️ Note from the Pastor
As we are now officially in the new year, many of us bring into it hurts, habits, and hang-ups from the last year. We are mindful to set new goals and to make great efforts to improve ourselves mentally, physically, spiritually, and even financially. These are commendable goals to pursue—but if we are not careful, they can hold us back when they become too lofty.
If we carry the weight of the past into the new year while also setting big goals for ourselves to accomplish in 2024, we can quickly become overwhelmed and feel defeated in a very short amount of time.
There is no doubt the Apostle Paul understood this well as he strove to be his best for the work set before him while preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:12-14
So remember this year, as you work to set and achieve goals, do your best to let go of the past and look ahead to what Jesus has for you. Keep your heart and your mind fixed on Him, and you will have the victory.
