First 5 – Week of January 8, 2018

Meetup Mondays are back! Each Monday from January 8 to March 26, Church at the Kroc will once again host Meetup Mondays! Enjoy a family-style dinner for $3 per person from 5-6pm, then participate in group activities from 6-7pm. No need to sign up, just come as you are.

Please speak with Lts. Brutto, Dan Leisher, or any member of the Congregational Life team if you have any questions.

Daddy Daughter Date Night is fast approaching. This year’s event is Saturday, February 3 from 4 to 6 pm. Tickets are $15 per person and include dinner and all activities. It’s a great event for girls ages 3-12 with their father or other special adult. Registration deadline is January 31.

The Kroc Center will be hosting the Western Michigan/Northern Indiana Divisional Multicultural Conference this Sunday, January 14 starting at 4pm. There will be worship, conversation, and a great lineup of speakers from our Territorial Headquarters, as well as those who serve on the front lines for The Salvation Army in Chicago’s most challenging neighborhoods. Kroc Krew members are welcome to attend.

Reminder: Monday, January 15th is a Salvation Army holiday for administrative staff. While many kids are out of school, we will NOT have extended recreation hours, as some large districts, including Wyoming and Kentwood, still have a full- or half-day of classes. Our normal Monday programming will be running as scheduled.

Kroc Krew Chili Cookoff! Mark Thursday, January 25 on your calendar for our annual homemade chili competition. Bring your own special blend of herbs and spices to share with everyone and win the admiration of all as the Kroc’s 2018 “house chili.” Tasting times will be Noon-1pm and 6-7pm. Please email Julie Taggart (julie_taggart@usc.salvationarmy.org) if you would like to enter a chili.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! This week, here are some additional notes that were left in the Christmas Card boxes for our Krew:

  • “You make this center warm and inviting each and every day. You are ALL blessings!”
  • “Our whole family just loves coming here because of your smiling faces. Keep emitting the love of Jesus!”
  • “Thank you for all you do. We are so appreciative to have a welcoming place to focus on our well-being.”
