First 5 – Week of February 12, 2018

All Kroc Krew members! This Wednesday, February 14, is our EAT Committee’s Hot Chocolate Bar in celebration of Valentine’s Day.  Hot chocolate, along with an assortment of flavorings and toppings, will be out in the Fireside Hallway starting at 10am.

Watch for the upcoming launch of a new fundraiser for The Salvation Army World Missions. Employees, members, and guests will have the opportunity to put their name on a paper “globe” at the Welcome Desk for $5. When you see names you recognize, please make the donors feel special by thanking them for their contribution.

The 2018 Summer Camp Guide is available now! Camp Kroc leaders are getting busy in hiring counselors (including for Spring Break camp). Don’t forget that you will get a cookie coupon for anyone you refer who gets hired at the Kroc. Also this year, we’ll be hosting the first-ever GRKids Summer Camps Fair on Sunday, March 18 from 1-5pm. It is sure to be a big event! More details to come.

Meetup Monday continues! Each Monday through March 26, Church at the Kroc is hosting Meetup Mondays! Enjoy a family-style dinner for $3 per person from 5-6pm, then participate in group activities from 6-7pm. No need to sign up, just come as you are. The current study topic is “Race in the Church,” which has fostered a great deal of conversation.

Please speak with Lts. Brutto, Dan Leisher, or any member of the Congregational Life team if you have any questions.

Reminder: Next Monday, February 19, is an administrative holiday for Presidents Day. Unlike many past years, Kentwood Public Schools is the only large local district that is off that day, so we do not have extended hours or special programming scheduled.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from this week:

  • “Shout out to Kiri from the Welcome Desk. She answered her phone at 6am and came in to cover for someone who called in sick. I’m thankful for our reliable opening staff!”
  • “Excellent job by Heather, events team and volunteers with Daddy Daughter Date Night. Many happy dads and daughters tonight. DJ Josh Lubbers was mixing the tunes (who knew!?!)”
  • “DaVon stayed on to close to help the new gym attendant complete his closing duties.”
  • “Jacob performed a quick rescue of a teen in the deep end of the pool that received praise from other guests.”
