First 5 – Week of February 19, 2018

Reminder: Monday, February 19 is an administrative holiday for Presidents Day. Unlike many past years, Kentwood Public Schools is the only large local district that is off that day, so we do not have extended hours or special programming scheduled.

The new fundraising initiative for The Salvation Army World Missions is up and running at the Welcome Desk. Employees, members, and guests will have the opportunity to put their name on a paper “globe” for $5. When you see names you recognize, please make the donors feel special by thanking them for their contribution.

We’re wrapping up the finishing touches on the Spring/Summer Program Guide. It will be at the Kroc and mailed to homes by February 28; spring program registration starts on Monday, May 12. Be sure to familiarize yourself with many of the new and/or free programs we hope to run.

The 2018 Summer Camp Guide is available now! Camp Kroc leaders are getting busy in hiring counselors (including for Spring Break camp). Don’t forget that you will get a cookie coupon for anyone you refer who gets hired at the Kroc. Also this year, we’ll be hosting the first-ever GRKids Summer Camps Fair on Sunday, March 18 from 1-5pm. It is sure to be a big event! More details to come.

Meetup Monday continues! Each Monday through March 26, Church at the Kroc is hosting Meetup Mondays! Enjoy a family-style dinner for $3 per person from 5-6pm, then participate in group activities from 6-7pm. No need to sign up, just come as you are. Please speak with Lts. Brutto, Dan Leisher, or any member of the Congregational Life team if you have any questions.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from this week:

  • “Just a quick staff shout-out to Kaleigh Steelman our art instructor. Kaleigh used her own resources to make a delicious treat for Senior Drop-in Art for Valentines day! Way to go above and beyond!!”
  • “Bernard and Chuck did a great job managing an issue of a young member looking to get into trouble in the locker rooms with no incident.”
  • “Wynter did a great job with directing people and answering questions while she was in the lobby waiting for the birthday party to arrive.”
  • “Kudos to Samantha and Harmony Clark in the game room. At about 7:00 there were 21 kids and Clarks had it all under control. Everybody smiling.”
