First 5 – Week of November 18, 2019

Kroc Krew Thanksgiving: Our annual Kroc Krew Thanksgiving potluck will be this Thursday, November 21. Turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy will be provided. Sign up in your department to bring a dish to pass (each department has been assigned categories like side dishes or desserts). We’ll have a midday feast at 12pm for daytime staff, and an evening feast around 6pm for those working later.

Les Mills Challenge!  It’s the last week of our Les Mills member challenge! Here’s how it works: Pick up a punch card at the Fitness Desk or Welcome Desk, and then take at least one session of BODYPUMP, CXWORX, Sprint, and a virtual class of your choice. Everyone who completes their punch card will be entered to win gift cards and other prizes, including Apple AirPods! See Cheryl Floyd or Bram Roberts with any questions.

Kroc Krew Christmas Party: There are still plenty of tickets available for the Kroc Krew Christmas Party at Celebration Cinema Rivertown on Sunday, December 8. We’ve rented out an entire theater for our own screening of Frozen II. All employees will get at least three tickets if you reserve them by this Friday, November 22. Any remaining tickets will then be given out to anyone who requests more. Go to krocchristmas19.eventbrite.com to RSVP!

Drivers Needed: We need drivers for the kettle season to drop off and pick up bell ringers/ kettles. If you are a part-time employee  willing to pick up hours during the months of November and December, please follow these instructions:

1. Have a conversation with your supervisor to make sure that the scheduling can work. Make sure you are not double booking your schedule.
2. You would be paid your regular hourly rate.
3. You need to obtain a chauffeur license (not a CDL – see this link for details. The Kroc will pay the fee for you.)
4. Once you get approval from your supervisor, see Melissa Roemer for scheduling.

We need two drivers each scheduled day through November 24th. We would need three drivers each scheduled day from November 25th – December 24th. The shifts would be from 1:30pm-3:30pm and 6:30pm -8:30pm each scheduled day. Thanks for your consideration!

Congratulations are in order for Nicole Wheelock and Paul Wood, who both passed their training to become Certified Pool Operators (CPO) last week. Having properly trained and certified staff members is a big part of what makes our Aquatics Center a safe and fun place to play, learn, and exercise.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from the past week:

  • “Kevin Chilton’s enthusiasm to be working with the UPrep after-school students really showed in his interaction with them.”

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • GR Census: Monday 11:30-2:30, Fireside C (small group), and Thursday 11:30-2:30, WPAC (large group)
  • GR Symphony: Saturday 8am-10pm, WPAC, Music Room, Green Room
