First 5 – Week of September 17, 2018

Monster Mash is coming! Registrations are rolling in for groups to hand out candy and information at this year’s Monster Mash on Friday, October 26. We already have more than a dozen outside groups signed up, not counting Kroc Center departments and the other Salvation Army units and groups that take part. If you know of an organization who might like an easy way to connect with a lot of people in a short time, information and forms are available at the Welcome Desk.

Meetup Monday – New book studies: Meetup Monday had a great first week! Kroc Krew members are always welcome to come and get dinner for $3 per person (+$1 for pop if you want) between 5-6 PM, then join the Church at the Kroc team as they lead group book discussions from 6-7 PM. The men are studying I Can Only Imagine by musician Bart Millard, while women are reading Gideon by Priscilla Shirer. Feel free to speak with Capts. Bill or Taylor Brutto if you have questions or would like to participate.

Watch out… it’s “Kroc Tank”! We’re holding a competition for all Kroc Krew members to come up with the next big idea in radical hospitality. Anytime between now and September 28, submit an idea to your manager. It can be something simple in your department, or a huge plan for the whole Kroc Center. The managers will discuss all the ideas submitted and vote on the best. The winning entry will get a $100 Amazon gift card, and one (or more) ideas will be implemented at the Kroc. Good luck!

Mentors Wanted: Kids at Brookside Elementary need you! All it takes is one hour a week to share with a student to make a difference through the Kids Hope USA. The Kids Hope program provides training for mentors, plus activities you can use to have fun with your student and help them academically. Please see Kayla Welch if you are interested.

Les Mills Training: The Kroc Center will be launching Les Mills group exercise classes before the end of the year. In preparation, we are hosting instructor trainings for each of the three classes we plan to offer: BodyPump, Sprint, and CXWorx. If you are interested in learning to teach fitness classes, please see Ronnie Frelix.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from this week:

  • Lots of praise from Capt. Bill on our first day back from maintenance week:
    • “Great job Katie Deatherage on putting in the new pickle ball lines. They look great.
    • Paul and Eddie – you both did fantastic work on the painting of the pool deck. It looks brand new.
    • Amy Seif – you were a rock star at the front desk tonight. Thanks for caring for our members.
    • Child Watch Staff – You all are such professionals when it comes to taking care of the children, especially when it is chaotic in those rooms. Good work.
    • Congregational Life Team – Fantastic planning when it comes to Meet Up Monday, things ran so smooth tonight because of your detailed work. Thanks! “
