First 5 – Week of February 17, 2020

Presidents Day Reminder: Monday is expected to be a pretty normal day at the Kroc Center. Changes to school calendars over the past couple of years have made it so most school districts are now in session on this day. It is also NOT a holiday for Kroc employees; while this may show up for some Kroc Krew members in Paycor, managers will be making adjustments at the end of the pay period.

Membership promotion: As we head into income tax season, our new membership promotion encourages people to put their refund to good use by prepaying for Kroc Center membership. The offer is 6 for 5: Get one month free when you pay for six months of a new Kroc membership – plus, half off the registration fee.  Or, get TWO months free when you pay upfront for a full year – and we’ll waive the registration fee. This offer is valid until March 31.

Kroc Fitness Bingo: Kroc Fitness Bingo is still going strong! We selected the first batch of winners last week, but members and guests still have until the end of February to earn their ‘Bingos’ and enter to win prizes. Keep encouraging people to try new classes and pick up cards at the Welcome Desk or Fitness Desk.

AYSO Spring Registration: Do you know a child who wants to try soccer for the first time? Dick’s Sporting Goods is partnering with our AYSO Region 1634 to help out. This spring, any kid brand new to soccer will get a certificate for a free soccer ball, shoes, and shinguards at Dick’s. Registration ends March 15 — Please see Bram Roberts if you have any questions.

Student film shoot at the Kroc: After encountering some delays, a crew from Compass College of Cinematic Arts will be in the building on and off in the next week shooting a student film. They will have access to the art room, event sales office/narthex, and possibly gym storage, and have been instructed not to wander off into recreation areas. Their main contact is Jon Shaner in the event of any questions or issues.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from the past week:

  • “Katie, Boone, Niesha, and Pete are pouring their hearts into youth basketball, not to mention several volunteer coaches.”
  • “Thanks to Eddie for coming in at night to perform some maintenance on equipment in the basement so we could be up and running in the morning.”
  • “Josue did a wonderful job handling a delicate situation.”

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Kroc Advisory Council: Wednesday, 11:30am-1:30pm, Fireside C
