First 5 – Week of November 19, 2018

Thanksgiving Week Hours: As a reminder, here are the schedules for the Kroc Center this week:

  • Monday-Wednesday: Regular hours
  • Thursday (Thanksgiving): CLOSED
  • Friday: Open 8AM-9PM
  • Saturday-Sunday: Regular hours

On Friday, there will be no regularly-scheduled drop-in fitness classes. Instead, we will enjoy a two-hour Turkey Burnoff class from 9-11AM.

Black Friday Special: The Internet tubes are already clogged with people talking about our ‘Black Friday’ deal! On Friday only, we will be selling the Family Pool & Play Pass for $79 (regular price $99). The pass gives a family of 5 access to Saturdays and Sundays for an entire year, plus Christmas Break and Spring Break. See GrKrocCenter.org/poolandplay for all the details.

Have you signed up to ring yet? The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign is underway. The Kroc Center is responsible for managing all Kent County south of 28th Street, and it’s important that we get as many volunteers signed up to ring as possible. Please consider giving two hours to take a shift; it’s also a great activity for kids and families to help share more than gifts at Christmas. Speak with Melissa Roemer or Denise Gorsline for more information.

$5 Swim Lessons: Now that the Winter Program Guide is out, excitement is building for our $5 swim lesson deal for Kroc members. As a reminder, all Kroc members can sign up for a six-week session of basic swim lessons (including Parent & Child, Preschool, Learn-to-Swim Level 1, and Adult Basics) for only $5 before the early bird deadline of December 11. Encourage people to sign up quickly, as we anticipate many of these classes will fill up fast.

New Members: You may encounter new members around the building as part of our new school partnership programs. 7th graders at three GRPS middle schools (Ford, Burton, and Alger) are eligible for free teen memberships when they meet attendance expectations; families involved in the FitKids program at Godfrey Elementary are eligible for free membership as well during the school year. If you know anyone who may qualify under these programs, encourage them to take advantage of their membership. We’ve started enrolling the first few people over the last week. Please make all these new folks feel welcome at the Kroc!

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from this week:

  • Crystal’s pop-up table in gym was very successful. Gym users were very happy to show their support and thanks for the Kroc.
  • Amy and Jakob were great with sharing information about the Pool and Play Pass to day pass guests so they can save money.
  • Lots of laughter and fun coming from the basketball gym during Bernard and Josh’s shift.

Here are some of the upcoming events at the Kroc Center:

  • No rentals scheduled this week
