First 5 – Week of March 22, 2021

POOL SCHEDULE CHANGES & USER WAITLISTS: We’ve made some changes to the pool schedule for the next few weeks while we are in a break between program sessions, in order to try to maximize member access to popular activities like lap swim and the new “household swim.” Please check the updated Drop-in Recreation Guide or schedule poster outside the family changing rooms for details. In addition, we have implemented a new online “waitlist” feature for group activities throughout the Kroc, which should help lessen the frequency of activity spaces going unused.

GOOD FRIDAY CLOSURE: The Kroc Center will be closed on Friday, April 2 due to the administrative holiday. This is a paid holiday for PTO earners and should be factored into your weekly schedule of hours. The Kroc Center will reopen for normally scheduled hours on Saturday, April 3 from 7:00AM – 1:00PM. This is mentioned on the front of the updated March Drop-in Recreation Guide.

NEW JOBS POSTED: The following positions are currently open for applications on The Salvation Army’s Central Territory jobs site… Campus Attendant, Fitness Attendant, Operations Administrative Assistant. Visit the Work page at GrKrocCenter.org for links, and see Kristin Hoin for more information.

COVID-19 VACCINATIONS: Did you know? The Salvation Army has determined that all Kroc Center employees meet the definition of “essential workers” and, thus, may qualify for COVID-19 vaccination earlier than the general public. We’ve been hearing from Kroc members that some of the local health centers, including the Browning-Claytor Health Center on Madison, have pretty good availability of appointments.

The Kroc Center is NOT mandating the vaccine for any of our workers, but simply passing the information along as a courtesy; however, science tells us that as more people receive the vaccine, we will expect to see the pandemic subside.

REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:

  • SAFETY: Do you know what our radio codes mean? It is a good habit to make sure you are within hearing range of a walkie-talkie at all times. Make sure to review your knowledge of: “CODE 9,” “CODE ADAM,” etc. In what situations do we instruct employees to NOT communicate over the radios?

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: This week in daily huddles and within our departments, we will be talking about customer service key #3 – EFFICIENCY. We strive to be attentive, considerate and responsive to the needs of our guests.

Captains Bill & Taylor will be away from the Kroc Center until next week. Please pray for safe travels for their family!

CORE VALUE OF THE WEEK: We value authentic relationships. The Kroc Center pursues personal connections that promote holistic wellness in an environment of security and significance.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here is a recent example:

  • Jill Rice brought in art activities to Child Watch to help keep older kids quietly occupied so they didn’t disrupt the play of younger visitors or cause potential safety issues.

  • The Aquatics team was helpful in accommodating a member who had forgotten about Daylight Saving Time and showed up for the wrong swim slot.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Greener Communities Speaker Series: Tuesday, 3/23, 6-8:30pm, WPAC (live streamed event, no public attendance)

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Jason Rysdyk – Child Watch – 3/21

  • Lily Mattson – Child Watch – 3/24
