First 5 – Week of March 29, 2021

GOOD FRIDAY REMINDER: The Kroc Center will be closed on Friday, April 2 due to the administrative holiday. This is a paid holiday for PTO earners and should be factored into your weekly schedule of hours. The Kroc Center will reopen for normally scheduled hours on Saturday, April 3 from 7:00AM – 1:00PM. This is mentioned on the front of the updated March Drop-in Recreation Guide.

SPRING BREAK: This is the last week for people to register for Spring Break reservations in the gymnasium or WPAC (for bounce houses). There are two local TV segments scheduled to promote our offerings early this week, so we hope that will generate enough interest to fill the remaining spots. Anyone interested in our exclusive Spring Break opportunities should visit GrKrocCenter.org/springbreak.

NEW JOBS POSTED: The following positions are currently open for applications on The Salvation Army’s Central Territory jobs site… Campus Attendant, Fitness Attendant, Operations Administrative Assistant. Visit the Work page at GrKrocCenter.org for links, and see Kristin Hoin for more information.

CAMP KROC REGISTRATION: Registration for summer day camp is open! Families who sign up and pay for all ten weeks of camp before April 30 will receive a special “Season Pass” rate of $100/week for members and $120/week for non-members. Those wishing to take advantage of this offer should contact Patrice Franks directly. Information about registration for children of Kroc employees will be available soon.

REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:

  • SAFETY: We occasionally have guests who report their property being stolen (one reason we strongly encourage locks on all lockers and not leaving personal items unattended) while at the Kroc Center. When this happens, we need to complete an incident report promptly and notify the facility supervisor. We’ll be sharing more information about how we handle reports of theft during the daily huddles this week.

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: This week, we will be talking about customer service key #4 – APPEARANCE: We strive to be ready to serve our guests through presentation & cleanliness.  It’s important to remember that we represent not just the Kroc Center, but The Salvation Army. How can your role reflect the Army’s mission to “preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination”?

Captains Bill & Taylor will be back at the Kroc Center this week.

CORE VALUE OF THE WEEK:We value a thriving community. The Kroc Center cultivates a sense of place that bonds people together and makes our whole neighborhood stronger.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here is a recent example:

  • A number of employees have been doing an exceptional job working with members to explain the online registration process, the mobile app, and new features like waitlists — Amy Seif, Kiri DeYoung, and Nicole Wheelock all get special shoutouts this week!

  • Rather than rushing to remove a gymnasium user who had overstayed their scheduled reservation, Joselyn Bykerk noticed that there was space available for the next hour’s session and helped get them signed up for additional play time.

  • Victoria Stedman was overheard being extremely kind and polite in reminding members about face covering requirements.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Do you have plans for Easter yet? All Kroc Krew members are welcome to worship with Kroc Church on Sunday, April 4 at 10AM as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus!

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Albert Montiel – Facility Supervisor – 4/3

  • Bram Roberts – General Manager – 4/11

  • Kristy Rencher – Fitness Instructor – 4/16
