First 5 – Week of January 14, 2019

Winter Programs: Registration for Winter 2 begins this week… don’t forget that Kroc Center members can take basic swim lessons for as little as $5 per person when signing up before the early bird deadline!

New Year’s Membership Specials: In addition to our usual $0 registration offer that continues through January, we are adding a brand-new promotion for membership next month! As part of our “Year of You” campaign, all new members can get six months of membership for the price of five when paying in advance. That means half a year of membership for a single adult would be $190, or a full year only $380!

Speaking of membership, Dannielle Ashford‘s schedule has changed due to the increase in new member inquiries. She is currently working: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 12-8pm, plus Friday & Saturday 9am-5 pm.

GR Drive Basketball Clinics: If you know a boy or girl ages 7-14 who would like to participate in a free basketball clinic with the Grand Rapids Drive at the Kroc Center, the next dates will be Monday, February 11 and Monday, March 11 from 6-8pm. Registration is open to give Kroc Krew families a head start — the clinics won’t be promoted to the public for another week or two. NOTE: Because space is limited, please do NOT sign up kids who participated in the November clinic.

Les Mills is here: Another big change that we can talk up to members is the addition of Les Mills fitness classes. Also, the Kroc Center is the ONLY fitness facility in the Grand Rapids area to be running a virtual Les Mills studio. This allows us to offer a wider variety of courses at new times — overall this month, we have DOUBLED the number of drop-in fitness classes on our schedule!

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from the past week:

  • Welcome Desk attendant Hilda Ramirez earns a cheer for her quick thinking when needing to locate a guest/member. After four announcements over the PA system with no results, she made a large sign with make and license number of vehicle and held it in the fitness studio windows.  Situation handled!
  • Josh Lubbers cleaned up one of the bathroom stalls in the women’s first floor bathroom without complaint.  Without going into too much detail, he took a ‘nonfunctioning’ toilet and made it function again.

Here are some of the upcoming events at the Kroc Center:

    • GR Advisory Board: Friday, 11:30am-1:30pm, Fireside C
    • DST Youth Group: Saturday, 10am-Noon, Fireside A/B

Managers on Duty:

  • AM (Open to 10am): Paul Wood
  • Midday (10am-3pm): Crystal Truong
  • PM (3pm to close): Albert Montiel (Matt Aho on Monday 1/14)
