NEW MASK GUIDELINE CHALLENGES: One (not unexpected) difficulty with the recent changes to state guidelines for face coverings is that we have no perfect method of knowing who is fully vaccinated as they move throughout the Kroc Center. Per the requirements of the updated epidemic orders, we have posted the appropriate signage as a way to prevent our employees from having to repeatedly question guests about their vaccination status. So, even if you have a suspicion (or actual knowledge) that a person is not fully vaccinated, please do not challenge them regarding mask-wearing. While we recognize the system is not perfect, this is the best way to avoid awkward conversations and possible conflicts. Please speak with your supervisor if you have questions.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: As a reminder…. this Friday, May 28 is an administrative holiday. Monday, May 31 is the Memorial Day holiday and the Kroc Center will be CLOSED.
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: This Thursday, May 27, from 3-5pm will be the last time you can find Kevin Chilton hosting a table with information and resources related to Mental Health Awareness Month. This is part of ongoing member engagement initiatives.
NEW TO THE KREW: Be sure to welcome our newest colleague… Aaran Bush, Fitness Attendant
REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:
-
SAFETY: This week, we are discussing medical care for employees and blood-borne pathogens. There are specific forms and procedures that need to be managed in the event a Kroc Krew member is injured on the job — please take time in the coming days to review this information in your department’s emergency binder.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: All our customer service keys are important. We’re talking about key #4 this week — Appearance. We strive to be ready to serve our guests through presentation & cleanliness.
OFFICER RESIGNATION: Many of you know that Captain Taylor and I have been employees and/or officers (pastors) in The Salvation Army for the last 18 years. When we started life together, we made the decision to always follow the plan God had for us. His plan over the many years has deepened our sense of mission and brought the most beautiful people and opportunities into our lives. Our love for mission and for the family of God has not changed, but the Holy Spirit is leading us in a different direction. With great peace we have decided to conclude our service through The Salvation Army. God is leading us into a season where we will be close to family, take time for rest and renewal, and lay down roots. The last year has held amazing moments as we’ve grown closer than ever in our marriage and family, found joy & peace in watching the Kroc thrive despite the seemingly impossible hard decisions and situations that we’ve faced together. The last year has also had some really low moments leading to burn out as we’ve navigated difficult ministry situations in the midst of the pandemic. All of this and more has led to God bringing us into the next season of our lives. On June 27th, we will be headed to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Munising) as Bill begins full time employment and Taylor focuses on homeschooling Josh & Addie. The Kroc Center has been our dream appointment, and it was and still is everything we had hoped our ministry would be. There have been so many people who have supported us over the years that we can’t name them all, but we hope for your continued love and prayers as we embark on this next journey!
With Christ’s love, Bill, Taylor, Josh & Addie
SUMMER VACATION REQUESTS: In order to allow us to plan appropriately with limited staffing, all employees who plan to take a full week off at any point during the summer (June-August) need to submit those requests before Friday, May 28. This requirement does not apply to shorter PTO requests. Thanks for your understanding.
CAMP KROC EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTS: Kids of Kroc Center employees may register for Camp Kroc summer day camps at a special employee rate of $82 per week (discount does not apply to before/after care). Use the coupon code STAFF2021 in the CampDoc registration system to receive this discount. Please see Kayla Welch or Patrice Franks with any camp-specific questions.
CORE VALUE OF THE WEEK: We value a Kroc Krew that is committed, caring and engaged. The Kroc Center’s employees and volunteers consistently demonstrate radical hospitality and a desire for continual improvement.
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: “I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.” – 1 Corinthians 1:10 (NLT)
