CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: Heading into June, there are a lot of new things that will be going on around the Kroc Center. Please be sure to pay close attention to changes to activity schedules as we start day camp (the week of June 14) and the summer program session (the week of June 21). On top of this, the State of Michigan has announced that most of the restrictions in place for the things we offer will be removed starting July 1. For several reasons, this does NOT mean we will be able to return to operating as though COVID never happened — it is impossible to know how soon more people will be ready to come back to the Kroc. We expect to finalize plans about how things will change in July over the next couple of weeks… feel free to share any input you may have with your department manager.
NEW TO THE KREW: Be sure to welcome our newest colleagues… Donovan Clark – Day Camp; Steffhen Smith-Cummings – Fitness Attendant; Jody Bacinski – Child Watch (rehire); Ashley Vincent – Lifeguard (rehire)
JOB OPENINGS: As we look forward to being able to offer more programs and services in the next few months, we are starting to ramp up hiring for various positions around the Kroc Center. You can always check out the iCIMS web portal to see a list of available jobs throughout the Central Territory of The Salvation Army. Currently available positions include: Group Exercise Instructors; Operations Administrative Assistant; Senior Programming Assistant.
AYSO REGISTRATION OPEN: After a season of combined soccer fun with the Kentwood region, the Kroc’s AYSO Region 1634 is planning to resume normal operations for the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 membership year. Signups for the 6U through 12U age groups are now available on the league’s website, AYSO1634.org. Interested in helping out? We’re always looking for folks with a love of soccer to participate as coaches and referees. Please see Jon Shaner or Bram Roberts with any questions.
REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:
-
SAFETY: Do you know how to handle bloodborne pathogens (BBP)? This week, we will review important safety reminders so we know how to protect ourselves when providing first aid to our guests.
-
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Starting this week, we are reviewing some of the concepts from our customer service training. The term ‘green dot moment’ has become a staple at the Kroc Center now, but do you remember where it comes from? We’ll talk about customer touchpoints and how they ‘color’ a guest’s impressions of our service.
OFFICER FAREWELL: As the Captains Brutto prepare to exit their appointments as of June 27, there will be several opportunities to say goodbye and show our appreciation for their leadership. All Kroc Krew members will be invited to an open house-style lunch on Thursday, June 24 from 12:30-1:30pm. You’re also welcome to attend the farewell worship service on Sunday, June 27 at 10am. More information will be available soon.
CAMP KROC EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTS: Kids of Kroc Center employees may register for Camp Kroc summer day camps at a special employee rate of $82 per week (discount does not apply to before/after care). Use the coupon code STAFF2021 in the CampDoc registration system to receive this discount. Please see Kayla Welch or Patrice Franks with any camp-specific questions.
CORE VALUE OF THE WEEK: We value authentic relationships. The Kroc Center pursues personal connections that promote holistic wellness in an environment of security and significance.
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” – Acts 20:24 (NLT)
Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some recent examples:
