First 5 – Week of August 28, 2017

While September doesn’t start until Friday, new recreation schedules begin today. The biggest changes are in the Aquatics Center, where there will now be a time each weekday afternoon that the pool is closed.

We are a week away from Labor Day… the Kroc will be open 8am to 3pm. This means that our annual maintenance week is almost here as well. That definitely doesn’t mean we all get a week off — please talk to your supervisor about planned cleaning and other projects if you haven’t already. Many hands make light work!

Speaking of maintenance week, we will have our annual all-staff meeting on Wednesday, September 6 from 4-6pm. This is required — if you have an unavoidable conflict (classes, another job, etc.), please speak with your supervisor.

Congratulations to Kroc swim instructor Kirsten Clemans for completing the 10k swim at the “Swim to the Moon” event last Sunday at Halfmoon Lake. If you can’t imagine how long a 10k swim would be, try doing 219 back-and-forth laps in our pool!

PS: If you know of a Kroc Krew member doing something awesome outside of work, help us give them a shoutout!

Is your CPR certification expired? If you’ve worked here two years or longer, or are a new hire, there’s a good chance you may need to renew. Please check with Kristin Hoin to see if you need to take the class again and to sign up. There are upcoming classes in September and October.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here’s an example from this week:

Last weekend (Aug. 18-20) was a bit hectic, to say the least! Lt. Bill was effusive in his praise for the entire Krew on duty for dealing with:

  1. Illegal activities by the wedding party;
  2. Cleaning up after the same wedding party when they trashed our rooms;
  3. A birthday party parent who blamed us for the physical properties of helium balloons;
  4. A large after-hours rental that turned out to be a very small after-hours rental.

Here are some of the upcoming events at the Kroc Center (not including the outdoor fields):

  • M-F: Final week of Camp Kroc! Thanks to everyone who has made this another amazing summer.

Managers on Duty:

  • AM (Open to 10am): Paul Wood
  • Midday (10am-3pm): Crystal Truong
  • PM (3pm to close): Albert Montiel
  • Saturday, September 2 (12-7pm): Crystal Truong

Job Openings: Apply online through The Salvation Army Central Territory’s Career Portal. Also, remember you will be rewarded with a free cookie coupon for everyone you refer for a job at the Kroc Center!
