First 5 – Week of September 11, 2017

Thanks to everyone who helped out during Maintenance Week. It’s always hard work, but it’s worth it when members and guests remark on how well-kept our building looks. If people ask you what exactly we did last week, here are some of the things you can mention:

  • Replaced carpet in the WPAC, and steam-cleaned carpet elsewhere
  • Cleaned and rerouted holds on the climbing wall
  • Resurfaced the gym floor
  • Deep-cleaned all fitness equipment and surrounding areas
  • Deep-cleaned Child Watch and replaced old toys with new ones
  • Drained, deep-cleaned, and made repairs in the Aquatics Center
  • … and more!

Reminder: Tuesday is the final Fall 1 session program registration deadline. Most years, the first Tuesday after maintenance week is also our Toddler Tuesday kickoff; however, we have pushed it back to the 19th this year to make sure the gym floor and other areas are ready for the munchkins.

It’s time to kick off our second year of Casual for a Cause! Last year, the Kroc was able to triple its fundraising for The Salvation Army World Services, and 10% of that came from your contributions. Here’s what you can do starting this week:

  • Make a contribution at the Welcome Desk for the privilege of wearing jeans to work on Fridays (with a Kroc shirt)… $2 per week, $5 per month, or $50 for the whole year!
  • Coming soon… buy a special Casual for a Cause shirt (good to have more Kroc shirt options on Fridays) and proceeds will also go to World Services.

Several of our Mem-BER Months bonus benefits kick in on Monday, Sept. 11:

  • Double referral bonus for new memberships (two months free for the referring member!)
  • Half-price day passes when members bring a guest with them
  • $.94 coffee ($1.00 including sales tax)

Please help remind guests about these new promotions… questions may be referred to the membership department or Jon Shaner in marketing.

The Salvation Army is accepting donations for hurricane relief in Texas, Florida, and other hard-hit locations. The easiest ways to give are through the website helpsalvationarmy.org or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY. You may have seen this elsewhere, but it is important to help spread the word that MONEY is the best resource to donate. Giving things like used furniture, clothing, etc. can actually complicate relief efforts instead of helping. Please keep everyone affected by natural disasters in your prayers as well.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here’s an example from this week:

“Nikki does a great job interacting with teens during drop-in basketball on the weekends. She has a very calm presence, which helps make everything in the gym run smoothly.”
