First 5 – Week of September 18, 2017

Toddler Tuesday is back this week! Some reminders about this promotion for families:

  • The discount is that one adult gets free admission with a paid $5.50 youth day pass. Members always receive free admission.
  • We set up fun stuff for munchkins in half of the gym, and the pool is available as well.
  • ALL participants must have a membership or day pass. We often have guests ask if very young children, grandparents who are “just watching,” etc.  still need to pay. Unfortunately, we can’t make exceptions to our day pass policy.
  • Toddler Tuesday will also include RJ’s Mini Mash Halloween event on October 24. On October 31, we will hold a special preview of Fall 2 programs (that day is the registration deadline).

Looking for a fun volunteer opportunity with a low time commitment? Kroc Krew members are encouraged to participate in:

We are in the process of launching a program called “Kroc Ambassadors.” These are members who will be provided ways to share the Kroc with others, and work within the facility to assist people and build community.

We have 7 recruits so far, and our goal is to build this group to around 20 people over the next month. Please contact Jon Shaner if you think of a person or family who would be ideal for this role.

It’s time to kick off our second year of Casual for a Cause! Last year, the Kroc was able to triple its fundraising for The Salvation Army World Services, and 10% of that came from your contributions. Here’s what you can do:

  • Make a contribution at the Welcome Desk for the privilege of wearing jeans to work on Fridays (with a Kroc shirt)… $2 per week, $5 per month, or $50 for the whole year!
  • Coming soon… buy a special Casual for a Cause shirt (good to have more Kroc shirt options on Fridays) and proceeds will also go to World Services.

The Salvation Army is accepting donations for hurricane relief in Texas, Florida, and other hard-hit locations. The easiest ways to give are through the website helpsalvationarmy.org or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY. You may have seen this elsewhere, but it is important to help spread the word that MONEY is the best resource to donate. Giving things like used furniture, clothing, etc. can actually complicate relief efforts instead of helping. Please keep everyone affected by natural disasters in your prayers as well.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here’s an example from this week:

Pool Supervisor Annaflora showed her love for the aquatics team by bringing in supplies to make them waffles for breakfast last week.
