Bell-ringing season is about to start! The Salvation Army of Kent County will hold its kickoff event this Friday, November 10. We want to encourage all Kroc Krew members to volunteer for at least one two-hour shift. Go to GrKrocCenter.org/kettles.html to find a location that is convenient for you. And… on Saturday, November 18 and Saturday, December 9, we’re challenging all departments to try to cover a kettle site for the entire day. The department with the highest participation will win a pizza party!
New Kroc Krew shirts have arrived! Over the next few weeks, we will transition from the current blue shirts to charcoal gray ones. Please watch for more information from your supervisor as we distribute the new and collect the old.
Going out for dinner next week? The Salvation Army Grand Rapids Women’s Auxiliary will be having a fundraiser at Culver’s on the East Beltline, near 28th St. From 5-8pm on Tuesday, November 14, 10% of food and beverage purchases will be donated back to The Salvation Army.
In case you weren’t at Monster Mash on October 27, we had about 1,500 people brave the cold and windy weather to trunk-or-treat around our parking lot. Feedback has been amazing from guests, as well as from the organizations who handed out candy. Congrats to the Education Department, whose “Spice Girls” trunk was deemed to be the most creative by our panel of judges — you will get lunch for your team!
Thanks to those who have already made a contribution to Casual for a Cause. If you want to wear jeans to work on Fridays, here’s what you can do:
- Make a contribution at the Welcome Desk for the privilege of wearing jeans to work on Fridays (with a Kroc shirt)… $2 per week, $5 per month, or $50 for the whole year!
- Coming soon… buy a special Casual for a Cause shirt (good to have more Kroc shirt options on Fridays) and proceeds will also go to World Services.
Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here’s an example from this week:
- On Sunday, October 29, Haley did a great job accommodating the birthday party guests as the guest of honor was over an hour late (who shows up late to their own birthday party?)
- Eddie Acker and Mike Glupker worked late Thursday night to drain part of the plumbing system and repair a large, leaking water main.
