First 5 – Week of February 5, 2018

Thanks to everyone who helped contribute to a solid January for new members. We’ll continue to have many new people in the building through spring, so keep up the radical hospitality! Some other ongoing initiatives to gain and retain memberships:

  • We’re extending our new member promotion through Valentine’s Day with a $14 registration special. The tagline for this is “Show Yourself Some Love.”
  • The membership team is actively following up with people who took a tour last month, but did not join.
  • Through Facebook, we’re targeting users who visited our website in the past 3 months to encourage them to come in for a tour.
  • We’ll begin promoting our “Kroc Ambassadors” program and encouraging them to create social connections with new members, which we know helps with retention.

Parking Advisory: Due to our increase in member, program, and event usage on Saturdays this winter, we would like all employees to immediately start parking in the back (East Lot) and not park in the side lot (South Lot) until further notice. This is for Saturdays only.

Have you listened to the Kroc Center’s Become podcast yet? Have you ever wondered about how The Salvation Army works in places far more difficult or dangerous than Grand Rapids? You’ll want to hear the new episode featuring the perspective of special guests Lt. Corey and Captain Nikki Hughes, who lead the Red Shield Center in Chicago’s Englewood community. They also talk with Lts. Taylor & Bill Brutto about issues of race and unity in neighborhoods and in the church.

You can find the episode on Soundcloud here:  https://soundcloud.com/grkroccenter/become-episode-7-january-25-2018

Or, search “GR Kroc Center” on iTunes.

Don’t forget we are still in registration mode for Winter 2 programs. The Early Bird deadline is Tuesday, February 13, and the final deadline to register is Tuesday, February 20.

Meetup Monday continues! Each Monday through March 26, Church at the Kroc is hosting Meetup Mondays! Enjoy a family-style dinner for $3 per person from 5-6pm, then participate in group activities from 6-7pm. No need to sign up, just come as you are. The current study topic is “Race in the Church,” which has fostered a great deal of conversation.

Please speak with Lts. Brutto, Dan Leisher, or any member of the Congregational Life team if you have any questions.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from this week:

  • “Laura Delgado spoke with a couple a few days ago. The man came back looking for Laura, but confused the staff by asking the wrong questions. The couple came back later tonight to purchase a membership. Laura must have done a doozy of a sales job!”
  • “Auryanna, Alexis, and Amy were great with welcoming and saying bye to everyone walking by the Welcome Desk, even when they were busy.”
  • “Tony was very patient and polite when reminding birthday party guests of our guidelines.”

Here are some of the upcoming events at the Kroc Center:

  • FCA After Hours: Sunday 2/4, 4:30-6pm ish, Fireside & Gymnasium
  • GR Red Project: Wednesday, 6-9pm, WPAC & Music Room
