First 5 – Week of July 23, 2018

This Wednesday is the final Family Fun & Fitness night of the season. We’re having special guests SoulfulMOTION teaching the fitness class this week starting at 5:45pm. Then, we’ll have the giant slip & slide open until 8:30pm. It’s all free to both members and non-members.

National Night Out: Our annual celebration on behalf of the Garfield Park Neighborhoods Association is just a couple weeks away. On Tuesday, August 7, we’re inviting everyone to the Kroc for more slip & slide fun, along with snacks and visits from the GR Police and Fire Departments. We also make space available at no charge for community organizations who want to share information or services with our neighborhood. If you have a connection with such a group, please have them email Jon Shaner at jon_shaner@usc.salvationarmy.org.

Reminder: The pool will be closed all this week from 8:30am to noon for Kroc swim camp.

We are nearing the registration deadline for the Fall 2018 season of AYSO soccer at the Kroc Center. There are programs for kids as young as 3-4 years old, going up to an age 12U division. Go to ayso1634.org for more information and to sign up.

The Fall 2018 program guide will be available next week. The most exciting part of our fall sessions is that we are launching some new fine arts programming, and offering HUGE discounts to members. Members signing up before the early-bird deadline will be able to get six weeks of classes for only $5. This is something we will be promoting heavily, so be sure to take a look at the program guide and get yourself up to speed!

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from this week:

  • “Thanks to Tony Stornello and Amy Seif, who went out of their way to prepare the building for church Sunday morning when they realized more work was needed.”
  • “Josue Vasquez and Ricky Fox showed true concern, understanding, and expedience in locating a guest for her mother. Josue took mom throughout the building, and Ricky used the Gator to find the guest on the outdoor campus.”
  • “Tony was very helpful moving the Spectrum Health event inside due to rain.”
  • “Katelyn Leisher did great troubleshooting last minute AV requests.”
