All-Staff Meeting: Mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 5 (during maintenance week) and our next all-staff meeting. We will start at 4:30pm with everyone together, then at 6:00pm departments will split up and hold their own meetings as needed. Dinner will be served; attendance is required.
Maintenance Week Talking Points: With our annual maintenance week approaching, we want to equip you with tools to respond to questions or complaints that may come from members and guests. It is important that we communicate consistently on topics like this so people understand how closing for a week can benefit them in the long run.
– Why are you shutting down?
Every year, we close for one week to do a deep cleaning of the building, along with tackling important improvement projects that would make it difficult for members to access different parts of the building. The overall goal is to make sure the Kroc is a safe and welcoming facility for everyone.
– What kind of projects?
We completely drain the pool for cleaning, move and clean all fitness equipment, resurface the gymnasium floor, and much more.
– Why can’t you do that while the building is open, or at night or something?
Resurfacing the gym floor creates a strong smell throughout the building for 2-3 days. We’ll also be refinishing floors in the lobby, which will create a lot of dust. By doing many large projects at the same time, it reduces the overall time that we would have to disrupt the different areas of the Kroc Center.
– So are you going to refund my membership for that week?
Maintenance Week is a part of our annual schedule that we feel is important to make your membership experience better the other 51 weeks of the year. We understand your frustration, but we cannot make any changes to monthly membership payments.
Fine Art Fridays: This week is our final “Fine Art Friday.” Each person who brings in a donation of new art supplies will receive 50% off their day pass. The main goal of this promotion is to raise awareness of our campaign for $5 fine arts programs for members in the fall. Please see the display in the lobby for more information.
Speaking of Fine Arts… Registration is starting to pick up steam for our fall fine arts classes, which cost as little as $5 for members. Make sure anyone who is interested signs up quickly! Please see the Fall Program Guide for complete listings.
