National Night Out: Our annual celebration on behalf of the Garfield Park Neighborhoods Association is this Tuesday, August 7. We’re inviting everyone to the Kroc for more slip & slide fun, along with snacks and visits from the GR Police and Fire Departments. Invite your friends and neighbors!
Fine Art Fridays: During the month of August, we are holding Five “Fine Art Fridays.” Each person who brings in a donation of new art supplies will receive 50% off their day pass. The main goal of this promotion is to raise awareness of our campaign for $5 fine arts programs for members in the fall. Please see the display in the lobby for more information.
Program Registration Begins: Speaking of programs, registration for Fall 1 programs opens this Monday, August 6. Please spread the word!
Monster Mash Invitations: If you know a business or organization who may be interested in giving out candy and information at our annual Monster Mash on Friday, October 26, please send contact information to Jon Shaner at jon_shaner@usc.salvationarmy.org.
Maintenance Week Ahead: The Kroc’s annual maintenance week is just a month away. We will close early on Labor Day and remain closed through the following Sunday, September 9. This time is used to clean the building top to bottom and requires LOTS of help. Please be thinking about what hours you can be available to assist us during this busy week… (we also tend to have a little fun in the process!)
Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from this week:
- “Shoutout to Chel’le Venegar for her Program Check-in duties. Not just showing guests where, but taking them where they need to be… Thank you Chel’le!”
- “Same to Keontre in the gym. He is great with taking initiative to get things done when it’s slow. He also did a great explaining the schedule to a few staff members who seemed to be a little confused.”
- “Dad from the birthday party kept throwing kids (from the bday party group) in the pool. Nicole Wheelock (pool supervisor) did a great job of handling the situation.”
- “Saw Heaven (gym ttendant) cleaning up spills in the hallway by the lockers. She said, “I don’t want people to track water onto the gym floor. It’ll ruin it.” SMART COOKIE, that one!”
