Molina HOPE Coat Drive: This week, the Kroc Center will be working with Molina Healthcare of Michigan to distribute roughly 1,500 new winter coats to people in need in the Grand Rapids area. The coats will be delivered to the Kroc Center on Wednesday, with setup continuing Thursday and Friday. The distribution will be on Saturday from 10am to 3pm. Please be gracious hosts to our partners from Molina. On Saturday, November 3, all staff must park in the East lot until the event is over.
It’s Almost Kettle Season! The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign kicks off on Friday, November 9. The Kroc Center is responsible for managing all Kent County south of 28th Street, and it’s important that we get as many volunteers signed up to ring as possible. Please consider giving two hours to take a shift; it’s also a great activity for kids and families to help share more than gifts at Christmas. Online signup will be available soon!
Chicago Staff Band Concert: On Saturday, November 10, the Kroc Center will be hosting The Salvation Army’s Chicago Staff Band for a concert starting at 7pm. This is a nice family event, especially for anyone who is interested in brass music. Tickets are free; please talk to Capt. Bill if you would like some.
GR Drive Basketball Clinic: The first youth clinic of the season with the Grand Rapids Drive is coming up on Monday, November 12 from 6-7:30pm. If you know a kid age 8-14 who may be interested, you may sign him/her up online or at the Welcome Desk. The registration is open, but not being promoted publicly until next week… so hurry before space fills up!
It’s Easy Being Green! We’re happy to provide complimentary coffee to Kroc Krew members during your shift. However, please help us reduce waste and protect the environment by bringing your own (spillproof) mug and not using the paper cups at the Welcome Desk.
Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from this week:
- Thanks to Ron McMillen & Jessica Pollins for managing an unstaffed fitness desk for a couple of hours on Wednesday afternoon.
- Several Kroc Krew members were kind enough to attend the memorial service for longtime member Larry Belstra. This is an excellent reminder of how we want to treat our members like family.
