First 5 – Week of October 8, 2018

Monster Mash is coming! One of the best parts of Monster Mash is seeing Kroc departments get together to create their own “trunks” for the trunk-or-treat. So, get a group together and plan out your decorations! We will supply candy for you to hand out, and you are also encouraged to distribute information on your programs/services (please coordinate with Marketing Department). All employees will get dinner during/after the event! Please see Jon Shaner if you plan to participate.

Kroc Tailgate Party: The Employee Appreciation Taskforce invites you to celebrate this football season with a Tailgate Party on Thursday, October 18 from 12–1 PM!

We’ll meet outside the employee entrance (under the overhang). Hot dogs, chips & dip, and other snacks will be provided. Show your spirit by wearing your favorite team t-shirt (just don’t forget to wear your Kroc name tag).

Coat Distribution November 3: Molina Healthcare of Michigan is holding a coat drive distribution event at the Kroc Center on Saturday, November 3. This will be a very large event, with more than 1,000 coats being provided to families in the Grand Rapids area, including many with connections to the Kroc Center. All exempt staff will be expected to work this event from 9AM to 3PM. If you would like to donate a new coat, there is a collection box in the Kroc lobby.

Free Flu Shots: Walgreens will be at the Kroc Center offering free flu shots for employees and guests on Friday, October 19 from 10 AM to Noon. No preregistration is required; please bring your insurance card.

Did you know? The Kroc Center has partnered with Aquinas College to offer discounted tuition for some employees who are interested in furthering their education.

  • The Aquinas College Donnelly Scholarship provides eligible employees with a partial tuition scholarship.
  • It can be used for any number of classes at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • It can be used to start or finish a degree, earn an additional degree, or take classes for personal or professional enrichment to brush-up on job-related skills.
  • Once received, it can be used for up to seven years or until graduation, whichever occurs sooner, as long as the recipient remains a Kroc employee.
  • Non-traditional learners, approximately 23 and over, are eligible to apply.
  • New classes begin approximately every eight weeks, so one has many options regarding when to start.

For more information, please see Kristin Hoin.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from this week:

  • Thanks to fitness attendant Maria Kalep for covering drop-in art when an instructor called in sick Thursday.
  • Haley Voss went out of her way to take a group photo for a rental while they were here.
