First 5 – Week of May 20, 2019

School Event Season is Here: We are entering the peak of our school event season, both with all-night parties and daytime field trips.

  • Many departments have additional staffing needs. Please see your supervisor or Heather Morrison if you are interested in working an all-night party.
  • The all-night graduation parties are kept a secret from the students. Do NOT share the names of any of the schools that will be attending.
  • Overnight events will disrupt the normal night cleaning crew, so we all need to pitch in and keep areas looking good.
  • Daytime school groups will cause some changes to pool and other rec schedules. We will be posting these for members as needed.

We appreciate the patience and teamwork of all our Kroc Krew during this busy time of year!

Reminder: The Kroc Center is CLOSED on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27). The prior Friday, May 24 is an administrative holiday.

Camp Kroc Staff Pricing: We are excited to announce that Kroc staff members will receive special pricing for Camp Kroc 2019!

Pricing for camp is $85 dollars per week for Camp Kroc (extended care is included for no extra charge). To register, please complete a registration form and return to the Welcome Desk to register. Staff must register in person Monday – Friday from 9am to 5pm. Unfortunately, staff are unable to register for camp outside of these times or online. Payment is due at the time of registration. Also, on the registration form please be sure to indicate the exact dates you plan to attend and if you will be using extended care. Finally, please make special note that due to capacity issues, we are unable to reserve spots for staff children if payment has not been made.

We hope that your children will be able to join us this summer. If you have any questions, please feel free to speak directly to Jessica Pollins.

Father’s Day at the Kroc: Similar to the Mother’s Day event we held on May 11, we’re giving families an easy and fun way to spend time together just before the Father’s Day holiday on Saturday, June 15 from 1-6pm. The event is FREE for Kroc members and includes all recreation access plus a pizza dinner. Pool & Play Pass holders can attend for $5 per person, and non-members are $10 per person. Find details and a link to register on the Events page at GrKrocCenter.org.

World’s Largest Swim Lesson: Join the Kroc Center, along with aquatics facilities around the world, for this FREE one-hour introduction to water safety and skills. We’ll hold the event on Thursday, June 20 at 11am. Registration in advance is required. Find details and a link to register on the Events page at GrKrocCenter.org.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples from the past week:

  • “Kevin took time to talk to all of the new employees who were here for training while I was taking them on a tour.”
  • “There were a lot of very full hearts Thursday night watching the Brookside Spring Showcase. Extra special thanks to our administrators, coordinators, instructors, and program partners who made it all possible.”
  • “Someone or something trashed the women’s restroom in the maintenance building. No real damage, just a lot to clean up. Albert was on top of it, and guests appreciated the prompt attention.”
  • “Cathleen at the welcome desk noticed the front doors were dirty and volunteered to clean them!”
