MARCH REC GUIDE: The building schedules for March will be printed early this week. Notable changes include:
-
An added session of Family Swim on Friday evenings
-
New Cycle class on Saturday mornings, plus increased capacity for all drop-in fitness classes
-
More times for pickleball and basketball
-
An extra hour of evening lap swim on weeknights
BLACK HISTORY MONTH RESOURCE TABLE: Our pop-up table with books and other educational materials for members and staff about Black History has been a huge hit! This week, you can stop by and see “Mr. Kevin” (as all the Child Watch families call him): Wednesday 2/24, 3-5pm and Friday, 2/26, 3-6pm. Thanks, Kevin, for engaging with our members in this important way!
SPRING PROGRAM & CAMP KROC REGISTRATION: We are starting to receive inquiries about our next session of roster programs, as well as Camp Kroc summer day camp. Here is some information you can share with members at this time:
-
Spring program listings will be published the first week of March. We DO plan to continue offering many of our youth programs at no cost to those with Kroc Center family memberships. More information, including registration and session dates, will be available in the rec guide this week.
-
Camp Kroc IS scheduled to run this summer. We are currently finalizing schedules and COVID-related safety plans, and registration will be open before Spring Break.
SAFETY REFRESHER: This week’s focus area from our Safety team is Fire Emergencies. The activation of the fire alarm is a Code 9 on the radio — ALL alarms must be treated as actual emergencies. If there is a fire and you do not hear the alarm, activate it by using the nearest red pull station. Immediately start assisting guests with evacuating the building, avoiding the elevator. Do you know your department’s evacuation responsibilities, building exit, and outdoor meeting point?
CUSTOMER SERVICE KEYS: Key #4 to customer service at the Kroc is APPEARANCE. The main idea of this key is: We strive to be ready to serve our guests through presentation & cleanliness. Some questions to consider related to appearance…
-
How can we best look and play ‘our part’ in the Kroc Center?
-
What are ways we as employees represent the ‘brand’ of The Salvation Army?
-
How can we ensure our areas are ready for members at all times?
Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here is a recent example:
-
A married couple, new insurance members, showed up for River Walking thinking they had both signed up for the session, but only one of them was on the roster. When they checked in at the Welcome Desk, Joselyn Bykerk and Nicole Wheelock both helped correct this issue and show them the steps to take in the mobile app next time.
-
A member was disappointed that his desired time of Basketball Shootaround was full. But, while he was still in the building, another user called and cancelled their spot in the session. Recognizing the opportunity, Lisa VanDyk tracked down the disappointed member, informed him of the new opening, and got him signed up to play.
-
Put yourself in the position of that member for a moment. How would you feel knowing an employee specifically remembered you and what you had asked about earlier?
