First 5 – Week of April 12, 2021

SPRING PROGRAM UPDATE: Registration for the few remaining spots in the spring program session will close after Tuesday, April 13. Programs will run from April 19 through May 29, with the makeup week May 31-June 5 if needed. Please be aware of changes to recreation schedules in the pool and gymnasium as a result of program-related closures — an updated Drop-In Recreation Guide will be available early this week.

WE’RE HIRING: The following positions are currently open for applications on The Salvation Army’s Central Territory jobs site… Campus Attendant, Fitness Attendant, Operations Administrative Assistant. Visit the Work page at GrKrocCenter.org for links, and see Kristin Hoin for more information.

CHANGES TO FACILITY HOURS: Starting in May, the Kroc Center will remain open during the currently closed period of 12-3PM weekdays. We will start by only having the fitness floor available, as we wait and see how many people use the building during that time. This information is OK to share with members.

CAMP KROC REGISTRATION: Time is running out for families to take advantage of the special “Season Pass” rate for Camp Kroc summer day camp of $100/week for members and $120/week for non-members. Those wishing to use this offer should contact Patrice Franks directly before April 30. See the Brutto Bulletin below for information about registration for children of employees.

REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:

  • SAFETY: CODE ADAM — Do you know what a CODE ADAM means? With more activities taking place on our outdoor campus, we’ll be reviewing our processes and responsibilities for when this radio call happens during an outdoor program or special event. Make sure you know what to do in your department!

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: This week, we will be talking about customer service key #2– RELATIONSHIPS: We strive to create productive positive relationships with everyone we encounter. Strong relationships lead to loyal customers. This week, we will focus on being courteous and respectful to members (of all ages) and staff.

COST-OF-LIVING PAY INCREASES: All Kroc Center employees who were hired (or rehired) before the start of 2021 have received 2% pay increases, effective April 1. A portion of that increase should have appeared in the most recent pay period — please see Kristin Hoin with any questions. Thanks for everything you do at the Kroc!

CAMP KROC EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTS: Kids of Kroc Center employees may register for Camp Kroc summer day camps at a special employee rate of $82 per week (discount does not apply to before/after care). Use the coupon code STAFF2021 in the CampDoc registration system to receive this discount. Please see Kayla Welch or Patrice Franks with any camp-specific questions.

OUTREACH PLANNING: We are always looking for new ways to engage with our members and broader community. If you have any outreach ideas you’d like to share, please contact Captains Bill or Taylor.

CORE VALUE OF THE WEEK: We value quality in everything we do. The Kroc Center strives to offer a broad spectrum of impactful, innovative programs and services.

SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: “So he explained it to them: ‘I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.'” -John 10:7-9 (NLT)

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here is a recent example:

  • Paul Wood & Margarita Gonzalez received compliments from a member in the way they handled technology problems related to a virtual fitness class.

  • Kiri went out of her way to share our updated schedule with a person who was waiting for additional gymnasium hours — and that person restarted their membership!

  • Jason Rysdyk connected with a Child Watch family who was looking for a new church home, and they recently visited a Kroc Church worship service for the first time.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • AYSO spring soccer starts this week on our outdoor fields and continues through the first Saturday of June. There will be practices on the fields Monday-Thursday evenings, and games throughout the day on Saturdays. The facilities team, Bram Roberts, and Jon Shaner are the primary points of contact for the league. They should almost completely stay outdoors and use the bathrooms in the maintenance building, but in the event a family comes in the main entrance looking for something, please be hospitable!

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Bram Roberts – General Manager – 4/11

  • Kristy Rencher – Fitness Instructor – 4/16
