First 5 – Week of April 19, 2021

CHANGES TO FACILITY HOURS: Starting in May, the Kroc Center will remain open during the currently closed period of 12-3PM weekdays. We will start by only having the fitness floor available, as we wait and see how many people use the building during that time. This information has already been shared with members and will be updated on signage, our website,

CAMP KROC REGISTRATION: Time is running out for families to take advantage of the special “Season Pass” rate for Camp Kroc summer day camp of $100/week for members and $120/week for non-members. Those wishing to use this offer should contact Patrice Franks directly before April 30. See the Brutto Bulletin below for information about registration for children of employees.

MEMBERSHIP PROMO EXTENDED: The Kroc Center’s stimulus/tax refund special has been extended until April 30, to account for the fact that many people are just now receiving payments. Anyone who starts a new membership during this time and pays for a year in full up front will receive 15% off — that’s roughly the equivalent of getting 12 months for the price of 10! See the Welcome Desk for more information.

OUTDOOR CAMPUS UPDATES: The first week of the AYSO soccer season went as smoothly as possible — thanks to everyone who has helped out to make these field rentals a success. Looking ahead, we can expect more use of the outdoor campus as weather continues to get warmer. Because of this, we plan to work with DK Security to manage supervision of the campus on weekends when our building is closed and we don’t have facilities staff scheduled. As always, please be mindful to help care for the outdoor areas as you are out and about — keeping our campus clean and safe is everyone’s responsibility!

REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:

  • SAFETY: All of our employees receive CPR training, but it’s easy to be intimidated by the idea of actually being called on to use it. And while we aren’t frequently faced with these situations at the Kroc Center, statistics show that someone in the United States suffers a coronary event every 25 seconds. This week, make sure to review some of your CPR basics!

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: This week, we will be talking about customer service key #3– EFFICIENCY. This week we are discussing how to help members make the most of their visits. We always encourage you to think about how members interact with your department. How can we make those interactions quicker and/or easier – both for them and for us? Your input is always welcome!

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: Due to the extreme number of COVID cases around the state, we all need to be especially cautious at this time, both at the Kroc Center and in our personal choices. Please continue be diligent about wearing masks, social distancing, and avoiding large indoor gatherings. Even though it is also allergy season, we still encourage everyone to STAY HOME if you feel sick at all. It is better to play it safe and cover for one person than to risk having to quarantine multiple Kroc Krew members and significantly impact operations! We continue to pray for the health and safety of all our employees and members.

CAMP KROC EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTS: Kids of Kroc Center employees may register for Camp Kroc summer day camps at a special employee rate of $82 per week (discount does not apply to before/after care). Use the coupon code STAFF2021 in the CampDoc registration system to receive this discount. Please see Kayla Welch or Patrice Franks with any camp-specific questions.

CORE VALUE OF THE WEEK: We value a Kroc Krew that is committed, caring and engaged. The Kroc Center’s employees and volunteers consistently demonstrate radical hospitality and a desire for continual improvement.

SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK:  “Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” – John 4:13-14 (NLT)

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here is a recent example:

  • The morning shift team was recognized for working together to get members oriented upon returning to the Kroc Center for the first time.

  • The fitness staff has been responsive to member requests for specific pieces of equipment, and working to move and reopen machines as we are able within current distancing restrictions.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Divisional Youth Councils: Saturday 4/24, 8am-3pm, WPAC

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Tony Danza – The Boss – 4/21
