First 5 – Week of May 10, 2021

KROC KREW CELEBRATIONS: Join us in congratulating some of our finest in the Facilities department on big anniversaries recently — Albert Montiel (10 years) and Bob Morales (5 years). Hooray!

Also, we’re welcoming Rachel Olexa to the Krew as a new fitness attendant. Be sure to say hello!

UPCOMING TRAINING: There is a Kroc 101 / Customer Service training for new and rehired employees scheduled for Thursday, May 13 from 5-7 PM. If you are unsure about whether you need to attend (or are a supervisor with someone who should be added to the list), please contact Kristin Hoin.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: As part of our ongoing member engagement initiatives, Kevin Chilton is hosting a table with information and resources related to Mental Health Awareness Month each week. You can find him in the lobby on Thursdays from 3-5pm through the end of the month.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: As a reminder…. Friday, May 28 is an administrative holiday. Monday, May 31 is the Memorial Day holiday and the Kroc Center will be CLOSED.

REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:

  • SAFETY: Fire Emergencies — This week, we’ll review processes for fire emergencies in our daily huddles. One good first step to preparing for a possible fire is to locate the alarm pull station closest to your work area. Smoke detectors should set off the fire alarm, but in the event that you witness a fire before the alarm is activated, you should use the nearest pull station.

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: All our customer service keys are important. We’re talking about key #2 this week — Relationships. How can we go above and beyond for our members and guests? There’s always a basic level of service that a customer expects in any business, but the most successful ones provide experiences that offer a (positive) surprise.

SUMMER VACATION REQUESTS: In order to allow us to plan appropriately with limited staffing, all employees who plan to take a full week off at any point during the summer (June-August) need to submit those requests before Friday, May 28. This requirement does not apply to shorter PTO requests. Thanks for your understanding.

CAMP KROC EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTS: Kids of Kroc Center employees may register for Camp Kroc summer day camps at a special employee rate of $82 per week (discount does not apply to before/after care). Use the coupon code STAFF2021 in the CampDoc registration system to receive this discount. Please see Kayla Welch or Patrice Franks with any camp-specific questions.

CORE VALUE OF THE WEEK: We value all people as children of God. The Kroc Center intentionally strives to reflect and embrace the diverse population we serve.

SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT)

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some recent examples:

  • The return of the Hot Tub has been met with resounding happiness (and bubbles)!

  • Nancy Showers was observed offering some additional 1-on-1 instruction to a Senior Yoga participant after the class ended.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Potter’s House Choir: Thursday 5/13, 6-9pm, Amphitheater

  • TSA Women’s Camp: Saturday 5/15, all day, WPAC

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • May 12 – Bruce Boxleitner, Star of 2013 Kroc Center film masterpiece Silver Bells
