First 5 – Week of June 21, 2021

UPCOMING JULY CHANGES: We are in the process of finalizing plans for how Kroc Center guidelines, processes, and activities will change as most of the state’s COVID restrictions are dropped as of June 22 (we may choose to start making changes then,  but we will not adjust the recreation schedule until July 1).

Some of the highlights:
• Essentially all face covering and social distancing mandates are eliminated, except for in day camp and for not-yet-vaccinated Kroc Krew members (see #2 below).
• General building use and drop-in activities will remain open to members only through at least the month of July, perhaps longer as we get our processes in order and adjust to any changes in overall traffic.
• Nearly all activities that currently require advance registration will still keep that system in place – the only exception is use of the Hot Tub during hours the pool is open for other activities.
• The only areas that will see major changes are the gymnasium and the pool:

o Household Swim will be replaced by a more ‘normal’ Open Swim, similar to how we had run ‘Family Swim’ back in the winter;
o Household Gym will be replaced by various types of scheduled Open Gym activities, including basketball, volleyball, and pickleball;
o Both of these will still require registration that can be done via the online Club Automation site or mobile app.

Information will be updated on the Kroc Center website this week, and we will supplement that with an expanded Drop-In Recreation Guide along with email and other communications to members. Please make sure to be aware of the changes!

KROC KREW FACE COVERING GUIDELINES: Most of you are likely aware of the recent changes to the face covering policies made by our Divisional Headquarters. Employees who are fully vaccinated may choose not to wear a mask, but must show their vaccination record to Kristin Hoin. Please be aware that the state order for employers that this policy is based on does not expire until October 14. Non-vaccinated employees will still be required to wear a face covering until that time, or until MIOSHA changes its order.

SUMMER PROGRAM & CAMP KROC REGISTRATION: With day camps underway and the summer program session starting this week, we are still getting a lot of questions about registration. Here is an update:

  • Camp Kroc has waitlists for every week the rest of the summer. We are trying to fit in as many kids from the waitlist as possible as staffing ratios permit.

  • All summer roster programs are closed except for the July 24-25 session of virtual babysitter training.

JOB OPENINGS: As we look forward to being able to offer more programs and services in the next few months, we are starting to ramp up hiring for various positions around the Kroc Center. You can always check out the iCIMS web portal to see a list of available jobs throughout the Central Territory of The Salvation Army. Currently available positions include: Fitness Attendant; Group Exercise Instructors; Art Instructor; Music Instructor; Operations Administrative Assistant; Senior Programming Assistant.

REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:

  • SAFETY: Especially with day camp in progress using a second radio channel, it is important that our communication over Kroc radios is clear and understood by all employees. We will review our most frequently-used radio codes and procedures this week.

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: Key Values are the customer service standards that we strive to meet in order to create higher performance and an exceptional delivery of service. This week, we will review the reasons the four keys are so important to what we do at the Kroc.

OFFICER FAREWELL:  All Kroc Krew members are invited to join us for an open house-style lunch this Thursday, June 24 from 12:30-1:30pm in the Worship and Performing Arts Center, to say thank you to Captains Bill and Taylor Brutto. You’re also welcome to attend the farewell worship service on Sunday, June 27 at 10am.

NEW TO THE KREW: Be sure to welcome our new colleague… Louisa Hoekwater, lifeguard

CORE VALUE OF THE WEEK: We value quality in everything we do. The Kroc Center strives to offer a broad spectrum of impactful, innovative programs and services.

SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.  For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” – Ephesians 6: 11-12 (NLT)
