First 5 – Week of June 28, 2021

UPCOMING JULY CHANGES: As the state’s COVID-related restrictions are mostly gone now, we will be making some changes to the recreation schedule and other building operations as of July 1.

The areas that will see the most changes are the gymnasium and the pool:

  • Household Swim will be replaced by a more ‘normal’ Family Swim, similar to how we had run it for a period of time back in the winter;
  • Household Gym will be replaced by various types of scheduled activities, including basketball, volleyball, and pickleball;
  • Both of these will still require registration that can be done via the online Club Automation site or mobile app.

Note that nearly all activities that currently require advance registration will still keep that system in place – the only exception is use of the Hot Tub during hours the pool is open for other activities, and the gymnasium during times without scheduled activities.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE REMINDER: The Kroc Center is open with regular schedules through the 4th of July weekend, as the 4th is Sunday and we are closed anyway. Note that Monday, July 5th is an administrative holiday, but the Kroc will still be open.

NEW TO THE KREW: Please be sure to welcome our new colleagues… Lifeguards Ella Sterken, Lisa Walker, Abby Ames, and Becca Zoetewey!

JOB OPENINGS: As we look forward to being able to offer more programs and services in the next few months, we are starting to ramp up hiring for various positions around the Kroc Center. You can always check out the iCIMS web portal to see a list of available jobs throughout the Central Territory of The Salvation Army. Currently available positions include: Fitness Attendant; Group Exercise Instructors; Art Instructor; Music Instructor; Operations Administrative Assistant; Senior Programming Assistant.

REMINDERS OF THE WEEK:

  • SAFETY: Medical emergencies can impact our members and guests at any time, and a quick response is often crucial to keeping people safe. This week, we will review the steps we take when someone experiences as sudden illness.

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: Now that we have reviewed the background of our Four Keys to customer service, we’re back to talking about Key #1 – SAFETY. As more programs and activities are coming back to the Kroc Center, what potential safety challenges might we face that could be new (or at least not been dealt with in a long time)?

  • CORE VALUE: We value a Kroc Krew that is committed, caring and engaged. The Kroc Center’s employees and volunteers consistently demonstrate radical hospitality and a desire for continual improvement.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some recent examples:

  • Thanks to Lesley Greene for putting together the “babysitter bags” for the first virtual session of babysitter training.
  • The Welcome Desk team sends a thank-you to Camp Kroc for keeping things running smoothly the first couple of weeks thanks to good communication!
  • The whole Aquatics department deserves bonus accolades for crushing another surprise inspection from outside consultants.
  • Paul Wood and Albert Montiel went overboard to assist with the wedding that was held at the Kroc on the 19th.
  • Patrice Franks was recognized for doing a great job supervising day camp kids in the pool — it is great to hear all of them having fun in the water again!

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Slip & Slide Rental, Thursday 7/1, 12:30-2:30pm

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • June 26: Jim Zoetewey
