First 5 – Week of October 4, 2021

OCTOBER REC SCHEDULES: As a reminder, there is NOT a new Drop-In Rec Guide for October, as we are still using the Fall 1 schedule. This will continue through the end of the month, with the Fall 2 recreation schedule running November 1 – December 18. Remember – our newly-updated website contains an interactive calendar of activities that links directly to Club Automation, please encourage members to use it as a helpful reference!

MONSTER MASH: The time has come to prepare for the return of our annual Monster Mash event, scheduled for Friday, October 29 from 5 to 7 pm. This year, we will be partnering with the Burton Heights Business Association to help recruit vendors to hand out candy and other materials. If you have an organization you would like to invite to participate, please contact Jon Shaner for a sponsorship form. Note: All full-time or administrative staff are expected to work this event unless excused by your supervisor.

FAME BEGINS: We are excited to have students from Brookside Elementary back in the building starting this week for our FAME program (Fine Arts, Music, and Expression). The 3rd graders will be here from 12:45-2:45 on Tuesdays to rotate through rhythm, ballet, and printmaking activities. They will be using the WPAC, Fireside C, and the Art Room. Be sure to welcome them back to the Kroc!

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: Did you know that Hispanic Heritage Month continues through October 15? Several local organizations are holding special events that are open to the public, both virtually and in-person. Check out the Grand Rapids Public Library and Grand Valley State University for listings.
