First 5 – Week of December 27, 2021

UPCOMING HOLIDAY HOURS: Please make note of remaining schedule changes over the New Year’s week. We will be open 6AM-3PM on Friday, December 31 (early closing for New Year’s Eve) and closed on Saturday, January 1 (New Year’s Day). Please see the Drop-In Recreation Guide for details, as there are some holiday-related changes to the fitness and pool schedules.

NEW YEAR SCHEDULE CHANGES: We continue to do our best to expand the level of service we can provide our members with our current staffing amid a COVID pandemic that shows few signs of letting up. So, we are pleased to be able to make the following changes to our schedules starting Monday, January 3:

  • The Kroc Center will open at 5:30 AM Monday–Friday (currently 6:00 AM).
  • Child Watch service will be available on Saturday mornings, 8:30-10:30 AM (note this is a change from what was originally shared).

More information will be available in the Winter 1 Drop-In Recreation Guide, which will be published early this week.

$0 REGISTRATION MEMBERSHIP PROMOTION: Do you know someone looking to start their wellness journey in 2022? We’re helping to make things simple by waiving the registration fee on all NEW memberships for a limited time. That’s up to a $50 value! And, there’s never a long-term contract at the Kroc, so it’s easier than ever to Get Into It. See the Welcome Desk or GrKrocCenter.org for more details and to sign up.

KROC START NEW MEMBER ONBOARDING: Starting in January, we will be launching a plan called “Kroc Start” that aims to help new members learn about all the things available at the Kroc Center and get involved in their first three months, in the hope that they will see better results and keep their membership longer. This is a huge team effort with Membership, Marketing, and Fitness, and will hopefully expand to involve more areas of the Kroc over time. Some of the key elements include a revamped orientation process, integration of the myKroc Wellness app and cloud platform, and a 90-day Kroc Start wellness challenge. Be on the lookout for more information about these things as we head into the new year!

REMINDERS OF THE WEEK: Here are some of the topics you can expect to be covered at daily morning and afternoon huddle meetings…

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE FOCUS: Key #3 – Efficiency
  • SAFETY: Winter Weather/Seasonal Topics
  • CORE VALUE: We value authentic relationships. The Kroc Center pursues personal connections that promote holistic wellness in an environment of security and significance.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING: In light of our current lifeguard needs, and in recognition of the roughly 40 hours of training required for new hires, we are instituting a new program, effective immediately. In addition to covering the cost of lifeguard training, new lifeguards will be reimbursed for their training time. A one-time reimbursement of $400 will be provided after 90 days of employment. The next lifeguard training is scheduled this weekend, December 17-19, so please refer anyone who may be interested to Jessica Viau.
