HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS: We have two fun holidays to celebrate this week! Monday (3/14) is Pi Day. There will be an assortment of pies in the kitchen for employees to snack on throughout the day. Thursday (3/17) is St. Patrick’s Day. The EAT Committee will be passing out shamrock shakes to each department throughout the day.
PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS: Dance (ballet) classes will be cancelled on Tuesday 3/15, and Judo will be cancelled on Wednesday 3/16. Instructors and supervisors are notifying participants accordingly.
READING MONTH: March is National Reading Month! To celebrate, Kevin will be passing out children’s books and bookmarks every Thursday from 5–7 PM. Look for his display of books just outside Child Watch.
CAMP KROC: Registration is now open! Check it out online at GrKrocCenter.org. All camp registrations will run through Club Automation (like the rest of our programs). Below are some additional things you should be aware of, as we have already started getting some questions:
- Summer Day Camp Guide is available at the Welcome Desk and online at GrKrocCenter.org.
- Specialty Camps (half-day camps for specific activities) will be returning this summer, and have a separate similar-looking guide. That guide will be available soon.
- Camp scholarship applications are now available online and at the Welcome Desk. The deadline to apply for a camp scholarship is May 1.
- Positions are already posted for Day Camp Counselors – see ’employment news’ below for a link.
- The Kroc Center will once again be hosting a Summer Camp Fair in partnership with the Grand Rapids Kids website on Saturday, April 23.

- Jody Bacinski excitedly coming out of Child Watch to welcome back a family restarting their membership
- (Reverse GDM!) A lap swim regular taking time to speak with a staff member dealing with a medical issue she had also experienced
- Intern Amber with more recognition from a member appreciating the positive way she handled a complaint from another member
- On our first day of adding more spaces in lap swim, Lesley was out on the deck and helped assign lanes and teach the lap swimmers how to circle swim
