MASK REQUIREMENT: As you know, we have been monitoring local and national COVID trends as cases have declined over the past couple of months, with the safety of our members and employees remaining at the forefront. At this time, the Leadership Team feels it is appropriate to institute changes to our face covering policy for employees, while still protecting our most vulnerable participants (kids under 5 who are not yet eligible for vaccination). Effective immediately:
- Face coverings are now OPTIONAL for most Kroc Krew members while interacting with guests or other employees.
- However, they are still required for staff during classes, programs, or other areas that involve extended contact with children under 5, including:
- Child Watch
- Parent & Child and Preschool Swim Lessons (masks may be removed while actively teaching in the water)
- Fine Arts programming for preschool-aged children
- However, they are still required for staff during classes, programs, or other areas that involve extended contact with children under 5, including:
- ALL Kroc Krew should still keep a face covering on hand in the event that a guest requests it during an interaction. We know that people have a wide variety of comfort levels, especially older adults who have been recently returning to the Kroc for the first time. Some people will feel more comfortable having a conversation with someone wearing a face covering, and we should oblige whenever possible, in keeping with our customer service keys of SAFETY and RELATIONSHIPS.
- Existing policies for employees who test positive for COVID will remain in place (isolate for 5 days, must be symptom free before returning to work). Because we can’t afford to have multiple people out in any department at once, please stay mindful of social distancing in offices, meetings, etc.
Of course, we’ve been down this road before only to have another wave of COVID return, so we all understand that these guidelines may change again in the future. We appreciate your ongoing patience as we continue to navigate the pandemic in a way that prioritizes public health and safety.
SPRING BREAK: Spring Break is just a couple weeks away (April 4–8)! We recently sent a survey to our members and most families reported they prefer to visit in the afternoon or evening, with the pool and climbing wall being the top-rated areas. So, on our Spring Break schedule, you’ll find:

- Daily open climbing on the rock wall (no registration required)
- Added family art and fitness classes, including a special Family Drum Fit on Thursday
- Open gymnasium time with family games like nine-square, floor curling, and the Lu interactive playground
You can check out the full schedule at the Welcome Desk or online at GrKrocCenter.org.
