First 5 – Week of January 16, 2023

UPCOMING HOLIDAY: As a reminder, the Kroc Center is open regular hours on Monday, January 16 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day). It is an administrative holiday. Check out these events happening in the Grand Rapids area celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

FITKIDS360: The FitKids360 program returns to the Kroc Center next Wednesday, January 25th. This program runs for 7 weeks (1/25-3/8) and will take place every Wednesday from
5-8pm in the WPAC. HealthNet of West Michigan is the organization that recruits and registers participants for this program, which for this session will be offered exclusively in Spanish. They’ll have staff on site each week, so please direct any questions regarding this program to HealthNet at 616-421-9024.

$0 REGISTRATION PROMOTION: As the New Year is a busy time for people joining the Kroc, we continue to waive the initial registration fee for all new memberships. This promotion is scheduled to continue through January 31.

PERSONAL TIME: If you haven’t noticed already, your personal time bank in ADP may look higher than usual. Per our new merged division (GLD) all PTO eligible employees now receive (2) personal days and (2) floating holidays to use within the calendar year. These additional (2) days are to be taken the same as a regular personal day. Please see Melissa Roemer if you think your amounts are incorrect or if you have further questions.

2023 HOLIDAYS: Below is a list of holidays the Kroc Center will be observing for the remainder of 2023. Please note that some holidays are administrative holidays and the facility will remain open.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Welcome Desk Lead; Pool Supervisor; Group Exercise Instructor; Fitness Attendant; Personal Trainer;  Swim Instructor; Lifeguard.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples observed recently:

  • All staff, especially our first responders in the aquatics department, responded with extreme professionalism to multiple emergency incidents over the past few days.
  • The facilities department promptly dealt with the Kroc Center’s van being stranded and damaged during its use by other Salvation Army units during the Christmas season, so that the Kroc Church team could resume its use for transportation for worship.
  • With a number of people out in various departments, thanks to supervisors and staff in membership, fitness, aquatics, and marketing for covering gaps.
  • Kevin Manning has been doing a great job leading worship in a musically-skillful way that draws people into the atmosphere while helping to minimize any distractions due to technical difficulties, etc.
