First 5 – Week of April 3, 2023

SPRING BREAK CHANGES:  Please note the changes to the Spring Break schedule. We will only being offering open swim on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during Spring Break. If members or guests have questions about Spring Break, please direct them to GrKrocCenter.org (click the main banner on our homepage). That page has all the information regarding the schedule and includes steps on how to register for open swim times and day passes. Below are some important details:

  • All activities will be free for members. Non-members may purchase a special Spring Break day pass for $12 (all ages).
  • Open Swim blocks will be divided into sessions with specific start/end times, so guests will never have to worry about waiting to get into the pool. More details on the registration process can be found online here.
  • Spring Break shifts are posted in Sling for any employees looking to pick up additional hours (make sure to check with your supervisor first!).

GOOD FRIDAY AND EASTER HOLIDAYS:  Just a reminder that Good Friday, April 7th is an Admin Holiday (the building will be open normal hours that day).  If a PTO-eligible employee is scheduled to work that day, they may choose to take the holiday on a different day, or they may choose to take the holiday pay on Friday in addition to their hours worked. Please coordinate with your supervisor, and see Melissa Roemer with any questions.

Kroc Church will have special Good Friday and Easter Services at the following times:

  • Friday, April 7th:  Good Friday Service (6:30 PM)
  • Sunday, April 9th: Breakfast (9 AM), SONrise Service (9:15 AM), Worship Service (10 AM)

GODWIN HEIGHTS PARTNERSHIP: From now through the end of the school year, we will be testing out a new partnership with Godwin Heights Public Schools to automatically qualify students and their families for the lowest rate on our income-based sliding scale when they sign up for a family membership. The district started communicating the special offer to families at parent-teacher conferences last week, and we look forward to a potential influx of new members. Please continue to provide outstanding Kroc customer service, and speak with Jon Shaner or Lisa VanDyk if you have any questions about this pilot program.

KROC-STRUCTION: After 12 years of serving our community, we’ll be undergoing some building improvements this spring – the biggest changes since the Kroc opened in 2010.
The highlight of our renovation project will be the addition of new locker rooms on the second floor, replacing the current restrooms and Fitness Studio C.  Some additional changes you will notice:

  • A new Welcome Desk area and traffic flow for check-in and check-out, increasing safety for kids in our Child Watch rooms and the south fine art/education hallway;
  • A new office area for our membership team in place of the current Welcome Desk;
  • A new welcome center for Kroc Church just outside the Worship and Performing Arts Center; and,
  • Changes to the main guest entryway to improve energy efficiency.

Construction will begins in mid-April. The entire project is expected to take about three months. You can see images of the plans and designs on the new “Kroc-struction” page of our website. These plans will also be posted on our “Kroc Refrigerator” just inside the check-in gates.

CAMP KROC STAFF DISCOUNT:  We will again be offering a 50% staff discount for Camp Kroc this summer! In order to use this discount, you will need to email Chris Handzel with your full name (as it appears in Club Automation) as well as the children that will be using the discount. She will then apply the discount code to your account so you can register for camp, and the adjusted price should automatically appear at checkout. This discount will only apply to your immediate family members, i.e. your children and dependents as linked to your account in Club Automation. Note that the discount does not apply to before/after care, junior counselors, or specialty camps.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples observed recently:

  • A member left a thank you card on the Kroc Refrigerator and wanted to give a special shoutout to the aquatics and fitness staff. She wrote, “You ALL are the reason I keep coming back! I appreciate your smiles and enthusiasm. Thank you for always making me feel special and welcome.” –Cheri

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • No outside groups will be in the building due to Spring Break.

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:
