First 5 – Week of April 17, 2023

NEW REC GUIDE: The new drop-in rec guide is now available at the Welcome Desk. Because of the significant changes to the weekend pool schedule, we aren’t publishing the new schedule to the website until Monday. NOTE: We recognize that members and day pass users may be frustrated at the removal of Friday/Saturday open swim times. It is OK to tell them that the change is temporary (hopefully only for a couple of weeks) as a result of staffing limitations. While we can’t commit to a date to bring back those swim times yet, we will update the schedule mid-session if we are able.

FITNESS DESK HELP: The fitness department needs help staffing the fitness desk every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:45-10:15am. Those shifts are now available in Sling if you’re able to help out. Please see Margarita with any questions.

AYSO: The AYSO season has begun, which will mean increased traffic especially on Thursday evenings and Saturdays. Soccer families should not have a reason to be roaming the building, anyone coming into the main entrance because they don’t know where to go can be directed out to the soccer fields. Please refer any calls or questions about the AYSO program itself to the AYSO1634.org website.

KROC-STRUCTION: The long-awaited building renovations at the Kroc Center will kick off this week! Crews will begin plumbing & demolition work on Monday. We will be posting notices for members regarding changes to the availability of second-floor restrooms and other areas as needed; please watch for and direct guests to check out those notices on TV screens, the Kroc Refrigerator, and a special page we have set up on our website.

EXPUNGEMENT FAIR: We have gotten a number of calls about an event the City of Grand Rapids is holding here on Saturday, May 13. The event is looking to help residents clear eligible criminal convictions from their records with an upcoming expungement fair. The expungement fair will be held from 9am-4pm in Fireside. If you’d like read more about it, the MLive article can be found here.  Please inform anyone calling about the event that it is NOT being run by the Kroc Center, but by the City of Grand Rapids – anyone looking for information should go to the City’s website and look for the “Clean Slate” event, or call the city office at 616.456.4672.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family!
