First 5 – Week of August 14, 2023

KROC-STRUCTION: Due to some administrative challenges, mainly with city inspectors who are not available to approve our project, the expected opening for the new locker rooms is now the week of August 21. The lockers themselves will not be installed until September, so even after opening, guests will need to use the lockers in the hallway near the track entrance. Progress continues on the first-floor membership offices as well.

MAINTENANCE WEEK SHUTDOWN: As a reminder, the Kroc Center will be closed to the public for our annual maintenance week September 11-17. Communication was already shared as part of an email to members, but we will start posting reminders around the building over the next couple of weeks. As always, we will need extra help in deep-cleaning the Aquatics Center and other areas of the building, so please be watching for communication from your supervisor about projects in your department and the possibility of picking up hours elsewhere as well!

LAST WEEK OF CAMP KROC: This is the last week of our summer day camps! Be sure to say a big “thank you” to all of our counselors for a great summer.

KROC KREW SUMMER BBQ: Mark your calendar for the final event of the summer this Thursday, August 17 from 12-1pm under the fitness floor balcony. We’ll be sure to save some food for the evening staff as well.

FALL 1 PROGRAM REGISTRATION: Monday, August 14 is the first day of registration for Fall 1 programs. Please see the program guide around the building or at GrKrocCenter.org for listings.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Lifeguard; Child Watch Attendant; Welcome Desk Attendant.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples observed recently:

  • Last Friday, Paul Breuer stepped in at the last minute to work at the Welcome Desk in a coworker’s absence, even though he had only come in to work out.
  • Claire Dunselman and Julie Taggart also jumped into Camp Kroc as last-minute counselors.
  • The whole Camp Kroc team passed our state licensing surprise inspection with flying colors.
  • Jessica, Melissa, and Claire stepped in to lifeguard in order to prevent additional pool closures.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • Lobos Soccer: Saturday, 4-8pm; Outdoor Soccer Fields
  • Fit Kids on the Move: Tuesday/Thursday, 5-6:30pm; Outdoor Fields

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am (currently in the Music Room); if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • For Ronda’s son Luke as he adjusts to having braces for the first time.
  • For Major Carol’s brother-in-law, Greg, who has been in the hospital.
  • For all the local high school athletes (many Kroc members, kids, and staff kids) starting the fall sports season last week.
  • For our day campers and staff to finish the summer strong, and for everyone preparing to go back to school next week.
  • Prayer requests from the Kroc Church board for Rachel and Benjamin.

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Megan Rosalez: 8/14
  • Allison Dyke: 8/17
