First 5 – Week of October 30, 2023

HALLOWEEN FUN: Kroc Center employees are welcome to wear costumes to work for Halloween this Tuesday, October 31. Please make sure your costume is family-friendly and does not interfere with your duties. We will try to take a group photo of everyone’s costumes near the climbing wall around 1pm.

NEW SCHEDULES: This is the last week of the Fall 1 drop-in schedule. The new Fall 2 schedule will be available early this week, returning to a folded single paper instead of three separate schedules. Be sure to check out all the new things happening!

PROGRAM REGISTRATION DEADLINE: As a reminder, the deadline to register for Fall 2 session programs is this Wednesday, November 1. The Winter 1 program guide will be available later this week, and registration for those programs will open on Monday, November 20.

TODDLER TIME IS BACK!: Long-time Kroc Krew members may recall that we used to offer a special ‘Toddler Tuesday’ program with drop-in activities for our youngest guests. We are bringing it back starting with the Fall 2 session, only on Wednesday mornings this time. We’ll have special activities in the gymnasium, aquatics center, and classrooms for preschool-aged children and their caregivers. Please see the new Drop-In Recreation Guide for details.

KROC KREW UPCOMING EVENTS: Our annual Kroc Krew Thanksgiving potluck will be held on Thursday, November 16. The Kroc Krew Christmas extravaganza will be held on Saturday, December 2. Watch for more information coming from the EAT committee soon.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Lifeguard; Child Watch Attendant; Welcome Desk Attendant; Fitness Attendant; Music Instructor.

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests! Here are some examples observed recently:

  • Alicia Williams and Shauntae Gray went above and beyond in a situation where young people were trying to sneak into the building.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • UPrep Enrichment Classes: Tuesday/Thursday, 9–10:15am; Outdoor Fields
  • FitKids360: Wednesday, 5-8pm; WPAC & Music Room
  • FAME: Tuesday, 12-3pm; WPAC, Art Room, Fireside
  • Lobos Soccer: Thursday, 5:30-7:30pm; Outdoor Fields
  • Judo Tournament: Friday, 6-8pm, Gym setup; Saturday, 8am-7pm, Gym & Fireside

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am (currently in the Music Room); if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • A guest named Clifford asked for prayer via our request board, as he is experiencing homelessness while dealing with both a divorce and substance use disorder.
  • Mikey lost his mom, brother, and cousin in a shooting incident and now is homeless.
  • Brenda, who has lost her way in the faith and needs desperately to return to the Father.
  • Jay, who has a drug and gambling problem.
  • That the right individual would be selected for the youth ministry and mission specialist role, and that God would send people to fill the rest of our open positions as well.

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Pam Robinson: 11/4
  • Margarita Gonzalez: 11/4
  • Andre Posey: 11/4
