First 5 – Week of January 29, 2024

ZERO REGISTRATION PROMOTION: We’re in the last few days of our $0 registration promotion – if you know anyone who has been on the fence about getting a Kroc Center membership, tell them to stop in before January 31!

WHAT’S #YOURKROCSTORY? On February 1, we’re rolling out a new contest for both members and employees called #YourKrocStory. All you have to do is record a short video about the impact the Kroc Center has had on your life and/or the community and send it to the Kroc page via Facebook or Instagram message. The best videos will win a portion of $2,024 in gift cards! See GrKrocCenter.org/yourkrocstory for details.

SAVE THE DATE: The next all-staff meeting will be on Sunday, March 10 at 4:30PM. A light meal will be provided following the meeting. More information about the agenda, etc. will be shared in the coming weeks.

EAT COMMITTEE “SOUP-ER BOWL” CAN DRIVE: From February 1-11, the E.A.T. committee is sponsoring a head-to-head contest between Kroc departments to see who can bring in the most non-perishable food items to be donated to The Salvation Army’s Kent County Social Services food pantry. The department that brings in the most items will win a pizza party!  Watch for an email next week with all the details.

49507 FAMILY WELLNESS FAIR: On Saturday, March 9 from 12-4 PM, the Kroc Center will be partnering with the neighborhood organization Seeds of Promise to put on a new event at the Kroc. We are actively looking for more groups to participate (at no cost) – if you know of anyone who may be interested in joining us to promote community wellness, please send contact information to Jon Shaner.

OPEN POSITIONS: Visit the Central Territory’s ADP Recruitment system for all job postings and to submit applications online. We appreciate you sharing opportunities with friends and family! Current openings include: Lifeguard; Youth Ministry and Mission Specialist

Send an email to RJ Kroc if you see someone going above and beyond for our guests!

  • Cori, Paul, Rachel O, and Margarita responding very promptly and professionally to an emergency in the gym (they were nice to a pickleballer).
  • Fitness instructor Patrick Tucker juggled teaching, fixing the audio system, and providing tissues to a participant seamlessly in the middle of a class.
  • Jessica Viau gives a shoutout to Pete Bentancourt and Claire Dunselman for their help preparing for the aquatics in-service last weekend.
  • Fitness intern Meghan has given a boatload of new member orientations and jumped in to helping with the U Prep program.
  • Kudos to Bailey Roberts for teaching her first babysitter training with help from Katie DeJong.

Here are some of the upcoming events and groups at the Kroc Center:

  • UPrep Enrichment Classes: Tuesday/Thursday, 9–10:15am; Gym, Art Room, Fireside, WPAC
  • Fit Kids 360: Wednesday, 5-8 pm; WPAC, Music Room
  • AYSO Training: Saturday, 9am-4pm, Fireside

Each week, members of the Kroc Center and Kroc Church submit a number of requests for prayer. We welcome these from everyone in our community, and encourage all our Kroc Krew to lift up these requests in your own way. Don’t forget that you are always welcome to attend devotions on Tuesday mornings at 9am (currently in the Green Room); if you have a prayer request to share, you can post it on the board in the lobby, use the online form, or contact a member of the Kroc Church team.

  • For the family of Ray Tromp, a former Kroc Center member who recently passed away.

Be sure to wish a Happy Birthday to our Kroc Krew colleagues:

  • Phil Collins: 1/30
  • Punxsutawney Phil: 2/2
